It seems that for every Kim Burrell critic calling for her to be blacklisted there is a supporter armed and ready to defend her.

Arguably the most-hated woman in America following the unearthing of a Biblical-based assault launched at openly gay men and women, Burrell learned that her remarks had cost her an appearance on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show.’

Ellen’s move was lauded by those who argued Burrell’s remarks were hateful, hurtful and divisive.

However, rising from the shadows are those who believe that Burrell is being unfairly punished.

Why?

Freedom of speech.

As the highest-rated member of the ‘Real Housewives’ family the ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ is often credited for offering its viewers highbrow drama delivered by its cast’s rivals.

Alas, this season has turned a number of the show’s allies turn on each other after a business deal gone wrong between Phaedra Parks, Kandi Burruss-Tucker and her husband Todd Tucker led to allegations of betrayal, backstabbing and infidelity.

Now, after Burruss-Tucker seemed to confirm claims that Parks was seeing another man before her husband Apollo Nida was imprisoned, she has learned that Parks has hit back by claiming that she has been engaged in a lesbian affair with the actress Shamea Morton.

How Shamea responded?

By claiming that Phaedra has been pursuing her husband.

Lee Daniels has criticised for the creators and supporters of the #OscarsSoWhite movement in an interview with The New York Times.

Built to raise awareness for Hollywood’s brass-necked exclusion of actors of colours from its pictures, the movement has been praised for inspiring the minds behind the BAFTAs and Oscars to acknowledge the problem.

Alas, the groundbreaking Daniels believes that the absence of nuanced characters of colour in Hollywood has little to do with the discrimination the business itself acknowledges exists.

The official definition of a black movie?

One that tells a story about a black person (or black people), regardless of who tells it. It is primarily through his/her/their eyes and experiences that the story unfolds.

With this definition in mind, the movie buffs behind this list have not included each and every project which features actors of colour, only spotlighting the efforts in which characters of colour take centre stage.

For reasons he’s yet to reveal, Ray-J has never truly been able to capitalise on the part he played in turning his sister’s former assistant Kim Kardashian into a household name.

Earlier this Fall, the future of BET’s hit drama series ‘Being Mary Jane’ was rocked by a $3 million lawsuit filed by its star, Gabrielle Union, for a ‘breach of contract’ concerning salary increases and filming.

Despite the legal drama and industry politics, BET and its leading lady proceeded to promote the upcoming season with teasers that lead many to believe the two sides had reached an amicable agreement.
