It seems for every nod actor/activist Jesse Williams got for his impassioned plea for racial equality at this year’s BET Awards there is a detractor who didn’t exactly fancy his fiery words.

From FOX analysts to ‘Clueless’ star Stacey Dash (read more on that here), Williams’ words ignited a surprising firestorm of debate amongst viewers – some of whom have slammed the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star for ‘spewing blatant racism.’

Banding together, the actor’s critics started a Change.org petition to see him booted from the prized ABC series (as of time reported the petition has collected over 15,000 signatures).  Tuck in below to see Shonda Rhimes’ – the series creator – and Williams response to the hoopla:

Tavis Smiley, renown television host and political/social commentator, is extending his talents once again to the pen via ‘Before You Judge Me’ – an in depth look at the tragic last days of King of Pop Michael Jackson.

Released in late June, the biographical page-turner “examines Jackson’s highs and lows — including his constant hunt for privacy in a life that was more public than almost any other and the pressures he endured as someone whose fame made him socially fragile and almost unable to live.”

Now, while blazing the promo trail in support of the project, Smiley dishes with ExtraTV on his intention to turn the book into a TV series and even reflects on MJ’s reported longtime feud with fellow pop icon Prince.  Details inside:

Welcome to Retro Rewind, the original TGJ feature launched to celebrate TV and Film’s glorious past.

Today, we make our way to 1990, the year in which the hit series ‘Are You Afraid of the Dark?‘ made its way to the world.

Created by D.J. MacHale and Ned Kandel, the anthology series tells the tale of the Midnight Society, a group of teens who gather around campfire at midnight to share stories with one another.

The show’s first run started in 1990 and ended in 1996 and was revived in ’99 before its plug was pulled for good in June 11th 2000.

Fortunately, said run helped to turn many a 90s teen star into a household name, packing performances from Tia & Tamera Mowry (who star in the episode below),Ryan Gosling, Melissa Joan-Hart, Tatyana Ali and Neve Campbell.

As praise for ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actor/activist Jesse Williams continues to flood in after his impassioned race equality speech at this week’s BET Awards, there have been a small, yet surprising number of critics who felt the speech raised a few eyebrows.

One such critic, whose skepticism comes as a surprise to no one, is ‘Clueless’ star Stacey Dash.  The actress/FOX News puppet commentator took to her blog to slam Williams for a speech she calls ‘an attack on white people.’
