Veteran actress Niecy Nash-Betts serves as ‘The Rookie’ in the forthcoming ABC spinoff, ‘The Rookie: Feds.’

As revealed in the trailer for the September 27-due series, Nash-Betts portrays “Simone Clark” – the oldest rookie in the FBI who, freshly out of the Academy, has come to turn the bureau on its head.  The series also stars Felix Solis, James Lesure, Britt Robertson, Kevin Zegers, and many other familiar faces.

The über talented Letitia Wright and Tamara Lawrance take center stage in ‘The Silent Twins,’ a powerful movie centered on the incredible true story of twin sisters who only communicated with each other.

Based on the best-selling book of the same name, written by Marjorie Wallace, ‘The Silent Twins’ chronicles the narrative of siblings June (Wright) and Jennifer (Lawrance) Gibbons who were the only Black girls in the Welsh town of Haverfordwest during the ‘70s and ’80s. Through their unique bond, the movie explores the themes of institutional racism, mental health, and more.

That Grape Juice‘s Chet Kincaid spoke with the actors who shared how they prepared for their roles, what it was like shooting intense scenes and how race impacted the sisters’ treatment at the time.

‘Abbott Elementary’ star Quinta Brunson was penciled in history books at Monday’s EMMYs (September 12) when she took home the trophy for comedy writing (as we reported here).

However, the sweet historic moment was soured, according to some, when Will Arnett and late nite talk show host Jimmy Kimmel performed a skit that saw the latter lie on the floor for the duration of her acceptance speech (which drew attention away from her as it distracted viewers).

Brunson may have laughed off the incident the night of, but that didn’t stop the brewed backlash on Twitter as many slammed Kimmel for “ruining” the moment.

Already scheduled to be a guest on his show later in the week, Jimmy took the opportunity to publicly apologize to Quinta Wednesday (September 14) and give her the opportunity to say her speech again.

Whitney Houston‘s story is set for the spotlight like never before.

Well-treaded terrain, both during the legend’s life and following her 2012 passing, her story is receiving the big-screen biopic treatment with the arrival of ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody.’

Due in theaters this December, the film sets out to serve as the most seismic and most definitive take on a narrative like no other.

Directed by Kasi Lemons, ‘I Wanna Dance’ is written and produced by Anthony McCarten – who helmed Oscar winner ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ (the blockbuster biopic about Queen). It notably serves as the only film production on Houston’s life to be released in partnership with the diva’s Estate and longtime collaborator Clive Davis in the mix. A move that will see the flick feature original recordings of the icon’s music too.

Ahead of its arrival in theaters, Sony Pictures has unveiled the first-look trailer – showcasing lead Naomi Ackie as Houston and the lifelong span the film will delve into.

After thrilling audiences in 2020 with its inaugural season led by Xosha Roquemore and Alano Miller, Ava Duvernay‘s anthological romantic drama is finally back to kick off its sophomore run.

Set for premiere October 4 on OWN, this season is led by Joy Bryant and Henry Simmons but also stars familiar faces Richard Roundtree and Terri J. Vaughn.

According to the official plot description, season 2 will see “the rekindling of a romance told — the love story of Ellis Moran (Henry Simmons) and Sunday St. James (Joy Bryant), who fell in love in high school but find themselves reunited in beautiful New Orleans. Ellis is a former basketball player who is now a single father of two, and Sunday is a vegetarian celebrity chef on the cusp of fame.”

With Halloween fast approaching, Netflix brings the fright and the funny with new movie ‘The Curse of Bridge Hollow.’

Anchored by Marlon Wayans and co-starring Kelly Rowland, the film follows the story of a father (Wayans) and his teenage daughter (played by Priah Ferguson).

An array of unforeseen events (which bring the term “close to home” a whole new meaning) see them forced to team up and save their town after an ancient and meddling spirit causes chaos.

Jeff Wadlow takes the directorial helm of the movie, which also stars Rob Riggle, John Michael Higgins, Nia Vardalos, Lauren Lapkus, Holly J. Barrett, Myles Vincent Perez, Abi Monterey, and Helen Slayton-Hughes.
