While many have praised Cardi B‘s sexually charged 2021 GRAMMY performance of ‘WAP’ as ‘female empowerment,’ others – including members of the Parents Television Council (click here to read) – blasted the Megan Thee Stallion-assisted song’s inaugural live rendition as ‘unfit’ for families with children to watch.

Among those up in arms from the ‘Up’ performer’s jaw-dropping performance was social and political commentator/author Candace Owens, whose criticism of the showing led to a heated exchange with Cardi on Twitter Tuesday (March 16).

With mentions in the categories of Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Rap Song, and more, Roddy Ricch entered the 2021 GRAMMYs as one of the night’s most nominated acts.  But much like Jhene Aiko, Chloe x Halle, Doja Cat, and others at the same showing, multiple nominations didn’t translate into any wins.

The snub didn’t leave Ricch bitter, he later revealed, and the stance of gratitude is one he’d wish older emcees would adopt.

“They gon’ give the award to whoever they gon’ give the award to and that’s gon’ be what it is. It’s just an award at the end of the day,” he said.

Thanks to reigning over Billboard R&B charts with hits like ‘Giving You the Best That I Got,’ ‘Just Because,’ and ‘Body & Soul’ over her 40-year career, R&B icon Anita Baker has been dubbed the Queen of Quiet Storm.

And though she hasn’t released an album of new material since 2004, the ‘Sweet Love’ singer’s iconic catalog continues to get love from all ages on the likes of digital download outlets (iTunes, Apple Music) and streaming services (Spotify, Pandora, etc.).

For some artists that intergenerational reverence is just a dream, but for Baker – thanks to what could soon be a tumultuous legal battle – it’s a nightmare.
