When not blazing stages, Beyonce lends her superstar brand to many a charitable effort.
Indeed, beyond the singer’s own #BeyGood initiative, Ban Bossy is the latest empowerment campaign the 32-year old is supporting.
Aimed at young girls, Ban promotes the idea of erasing of the word “bossy” when it comes to describing leadership potential in females. For, according to its manifesto:
“When a little boy asserts himself, he’s called a “leader.” Yet when a little girl does the same, she risks being branded “bossy.” Words like bossy send a message: don’t raise your hand or speak up. By middle school, girls are less interested in leading than boys—a trend that continues into adulthood. Together we can encourage girls to lead.
