Positivity was the name of Remy Ma‘s game today, spread when the Rap stunner arrived at BET’s ‘106 & Park’ following her well publicised prison release.
Birthed to celebrate her return to Hip Hop and the career she enjoyed before her time inside, Ma’s appearance on the show saw her speak openly on the difficulty she had adjusting to prison life, the tough love she oft receives from her fans and jealousy and insecurity within the female Rap arena.
A great interview from the ‘Conceited’ beauty below…
Over the last seven years, That Grape Juice has established itself as one of the net’s most renowned sources for Urban Pop music. Indeed, it’s become trademark for us to shine light on artists – both known and on the rise. This week sees us spotlight the latter, as we kick off the first ever Freshly Squeezed Week.
As such, we’ll be introducing a talented new name each day of this week.
Next up is…Carmen!
Writing herself into the Pop scene with the pen that is her debut single ‘Cold‘, 21-year old Carmen first caught our attention when we came across the Next-sampled jam earlier this year. Needless to say, we’ve been hooked ever since.
Hailing from Detroit, the LA-based beauty scored her first big break when she scouted by an NYC-based modelling agency aged 13, going on to switch the catwalk for the studio years later when she finished high school and moved to California to pursue her dreams of superstardom.
Perhaps the latest newbie to have sprung from Janet Jackson’s creative womb, Carmen’s journey to the top was made that much easier this month when her humble but growing fan base rocked radio with requests to hear ‘Cold’ spun on stations across the country. The result? Spins garnered on’Top 40′ and ‘Rhythmic’ formats that we hear haven’t gone unnoticed by tastemakers and label heads alike.
It’s a rare trait in an industry dominated by press releases and PR spin. Yet, it’s a trait Rita Ora embodied during her visit to On Air With Ryan Seacrest today to promote new single ‘I Will Never Let You Down’.
For, when quizzed squarely on rumors that ex-boyfriend Calvin Harrisdenied her the ability to perform the song (which he produced) at last week’s Teen Choice Awards, the singer not only confirmed the story as true – she went into great detail about how he was able to.
The World Cup may have reached its climax a month ago, however Kelly Rowland isn’t letting that pause the push for her new song ‘The Game’.
As reported, the track features on Pepsi’s recently visual album ‘Pepsi Beats Of The Beautiful Game’ – which compiled songs from various artists and paired them with specially shot videos.
And while a Spike Lee directed clip was released for Rowland’s offering, the pregnant singer has gone the extra mile by calling on her fans to feature in a unique lyric visual for the track.
Mariah Carey has been maintaining a relatively low profile of late. Indeed, in the weeks and months that have passed since new album ‘Me. I Am…Mariah. The Elusive Chanteuse’ bombed on the charts, the diva has largely shunned the limelight.
However, it appears the legendary songbird hasn’t been idle with her time and is cooking up new music already.
After winning hearts with their first collaboration ‘Right There,’ pint-sized powerhouse Ariana Grande and rumored beau Big Sean return with the Key Wane-produced number ‘Best Mistake.’
Preceded by the #1 smash hit ‘Problem‘ and follow-up chart-banger ‘Break Free,’ ‘Mistake’ comes as the latest tune lifted from Grande’s forthcoming sophomore album ‘My Everything‘ (in stores August 25th).
You’ve already heard the snippet, but tell us below: was it worth the wait? It’s all under the jump:
After showing the masses how to ‘Walk It Out’ on her recent single of the same name, Jennifer Hudson has announced details surrounding its parent album.
The LP, which serves as the singer’s third, has officially been christened ‘JHUD’.
As well as unveiling the set’s accompanying cover (above), the Grammy and Oscar winner revealed when the project will land in stores. And let’s just say, it’s sooner than you may think.
The diva has made no secret of the fact that she’s been cooking up a new studio album – her first since 2012’s ‘Lotus’.
However, with the pregnant star’s second child reportedly due in month, she surprised many by sharing a shot of herself still working in the studio.
Posted to her Instagram moments ago, the snap above was paired with the caption:
Baby girl getting first listen to what mama’s been creating in the studio.
Kudos to Xtina for the commendable multi-tasking.
‘Lotus’ boasted a number of gems, yet it was clear the LP was plagued by politics and that her heart wasn’t present in the promotional aspect of the campaign.
Fast forward two years and the climate feels much warmer.
Like, just seeing the her hard at work while with child sends quite the message and ultimately has us uber excited. Here’s hoping she brings the same determination to the table once she’s given birth to the baby – and the album!
Mariah Carey may be making major changes to her managerial setup, however that hasn’t halted her live ambitions.
For, the diva has announced a set of fresh tour dates in support of her latest opus ‘Me. I Am…Mariah. The Elusive Chanteuse’.
Released back in May, the set arrived to elusive sales and has experienced elusive longevity as a result.
In a bid to help the the project establish a successful face (of sorts), the 44-year-old is hitting the road. Find out if it’s in a city near you below…
