Congratulations are in order for Pop titan Lady Gaga.

The ‘Applause’ singer earned that and more from the 46th annual Songwriter’s Hall of Fame last night, where she received the coveted Contemporary Icon Award.

Gaga was presented with the honor in front of an audience comprised of industry figures at the Marriot Marquis Hotel in New York. According to organizers, the award is bestowed upon a  performing songwriter “who has attained an iconic status in pop culture.”

From where we’re standing, it’s entirely deserved!

The singer has had a hand writing most of her hits, including ‘Poker Face,”Just Dance,’ ‘Bad Romance,’ and 2013’s ‘Applause.’

The reclusive Lauryn Hill returns to the spotlight in honor of soul legend Nina Simone.

In a rare move, the critically hailed songstress has covered a track – namely Simone’s signature hit ‘Feeling Good.’

The former Fugees front-woman offered up her rendition for Netflix’s upcoming documentary on the diva titled ‘What Happened, Miss Simone?’

Rolling Stone reports that Hill initially signed on to record a duo of songs for the project, yet was so stirred that she ended up recording six (and becoming the soundtrack’s co-producer).

Speaking on Simone’s impact, the 40-year-old, whose ‘Miseducation’ LP was inducted into the Library of Congress, gushed:

“Because I fed on this music, both hers and lovers like her, like my basic food, I believed I always had a right to have a voice. Her example is clearly a form of sustenance to a generation needing to find theirs. What a gift.”

Pop royal Madonna cause quite the commotion yesterday upon unveiling the video for new single ‘Bitch I’m Madonna.’

Billed as a musical event thanks to touted cameos from the likes of Beyonce, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and more, the clip sent tempers flaring once it was revealed that many of the major names were not physically present on set – but rather appeared “digitally.”

Still, the party-themed visual has found support from some sects, who we’re sure are keen to see how the latest ‘Rebel Heart’ clip was pieced together.

This week saw the anticipation elevate after the ‘Feedback’ singer revealed dates for her ‘Unbreakable World Tour.’

As such, with all eyes glued to her next move, it’s little wonder why the superstar caused mass hysteria when spotted at LAX airport in Los Angeles last night.
