Today saw the children of Newton, Connecticut’s Sandy Hook Elementary return to the school for the first time since that life-changing tragedy of late 2012.

As the world continues to mourn for the children who fell victim to the senseless act, ‘The World’s Greatest’ crooner R. Kelly unveils ‘I Know You Are Hurting’ in their honor.

The tune is surely a tear-jerker, but Kelly does not actually contribute his vocals to the tune and instead relies on a children’s choir to sing his lyrics – an addition that makes the song all the more saddening. See what we mean below:

Fantasia is not happy.

The American Idol star has been under the media microscope this week following comments she made regarding Gay marriage that she insists were taken out of context.

Unfortunately for the 28 year old, her clarification on the matter has appeased some, but not all; with vocal critics raining a tirade of abuse on her online.

Clearly frustrated with the matter, the singer took to the very platform that sparked the debate, Instagram, to air out her feelings.

It seems there’s no love lost between ‘Liquorice‘ MC Azealia Banks and up and coming Rapper  Angel Haze, who engaged in a Twitter spat minutes ago.

Ignited by remarks Banks made about non-New Yorkers claiming to be from the vibrant city, it’s safe to say the ladies won’t be teaming up for a collaboration anytime soon- especially after Haze threatened to ‘cut’ her new found nemesis.

Fantasia is dusting off the controversial and pressing on with promo for new single ‘Lose To Win’. Today saw the 28 year old unveil of the song’s accompanying cover.

Set for digital release on January 8th, ‘Win’ is the lead release from the American Idol star’s fourth studio album – which, according to the singer herself, boasts a “rockier” edge. As at writing, the project is slated for a March release.

With Ms. Barrino’s third effort ‘Back To Me’ still in heavy rotation here at TGJ HQ, it goes without saying that we’re all sorts of amped for its follow-up.

There is no stopping Jennifer Lopez!

Fresh from wrapping a successful world tour, the 43 year old diva is already gearing up for a return to the charts. And so as to kick off her “comeback”, the Lopez features on the February 2013 cover of Harper’s Bazaar.

Taking to Twitter on New Year’s Eve, the stage blazer declared that the year is hers, beaming with excitement about “#Album10” – which hitmaker RedOne has confirmed he is working on.

As such, the stunning feature sets the wheels in motion for what should be an interesting “era” for the singer. For, despite “winning” on more fronts than losing in recent years (see: the millions wracked up via touring, endorsement deals, and American Idol), the fact remains that her albums and singles (sans ‘On The Floor’ and ‘Dance Again’) haven’t performed well since the mid 00’s.

Will this project right those “wrong” or will it take the Madonna approach and merely be used as a vehicle to mobilize the brand (touring, endorsements, media opps)? Time will tell.

In the meanwhile, peep more pics and quotes below…

Having blazed the UK charts last year, 2013 sees Rita Ora make a beeline for the US.

The last twelve months have seen the Londoner’s “brand” established on a global scale, thanks to a slew of promotional appearances, radio runs, and the widespread reach of the “net”.

Now, the Roc Nation priori is looking to use that footing to leap into worldwide success by breaking the notoriously tough American market.

Originally slated to release her ‘ORA’ album with bonus tracks last year, that idea has since been scrapped in favour of an entirely new LP.

Find out what the 22 year old had to say about the project, in a new interview with MTV, after the jump…

She’s the Pop sensation with a discography spanning seven years, and now- after the release of her #1 album ‘Unapologetic‘- she has been named the most popular female singer among British prisoners.

Yes, in a list which sees a number of British and Jamaican MCs come out on top, the ‘Thug In My Life‘ belle stands as the only girl in the line up.
