Girls Aloud are back.

And with Cheryl Cole‘s solo sales sagging sans The X Factor machine and the rest tanking in spectacular fashion with their own efforts, it was really only a matter of time.

Less cynically, though, next month marks the tenth anniversary of the group’s creation, and it appears the ladies are gearing up to mark the occasion.

For, this morning saw the a mysterious countdown timer appear on their newly relaunched website; a timer which ends on October 19th – the widely speculated release of the group’s new single.

The time-frame also coincides with the ladies much speculated live showing at Children In Need on November 16th, as well as the Royal Variety Performance which place on November 19th.

And while little else has been revealed about the project at present, it has been confirmed that Cheryl, Nadine, Nicola, and co  clocked in studio time with Pop maestro’s Xenomania back in May.

With the original Sugababes MKS also back in the mix, it’s certainly an exciting time for fans of Brit-Pop girl groups.

They may be relatively talent-challenged (sans, of course, the sublime Nadine Coyle – R.I.P ‘Insatiable’), but check out some of our favourite Girls Aloud moments below. Warning *some* are so bad, they’re good!
