We were beginning to worry, but it looks like Eve is finally back!
After a lengthy hiatus, one characterised by legal issues and a label change, the self-professed Pitbull In A Skirt barks back with new single ‘She Bad Bad’ - the cover for which she unmasked on Twitter moments ago.
The cut, which hits iTunes tomorrow, is the first effort to be lifted E-V-E’s EMI debut which boasts production from the likes of Missy Elliott and is set for release next year.
With Nicki Minaj having had a strong-hold of sorts on the commercial femcee market as of late, it’ll be uber interesting to see if her success assists the likes of established acts such as Eve reclaim their spots at the top. As long-time supports of the former Ruff Ryder‘s talent, we sure hope it does.

Tell that to her label’s finance and marketing department. When will you people learn that this is a BUSINESS. Labels don’t care about what you did twenty years ago unless they continue to make major bucks from it.
Missy and the rest were good for their TIME, but they are not going to impress on the charts this time around and the sooner you accept it the easier it will be for you when their sales are revealed.
Nicki Minaj didn’t get to judge on American Idol or become the face of Pepsi or have two number one albums because she’s a gimmick or a copy cat. She got there by building a strong fan base who worship the ground she walks on and will buy anything she puts out.
Plus, she sold out by making Pop music which gets her radio play on so many different formats which makes her more attractive to her label and the companies she works with.
Unless Missy and co cut some kind of deal with the radio to get their music played every hour on the hour they are going to flop miserably.
That doesn’t mean their music will be shit,it just means their labels will have even more of a reason not to support them.

As for Nikki, he gimmiks are exacty why she has become popular and has those endorsements, her strong fan base is due to the bright colours and childrens televisision outfits that appeal to 5 to 25 year olds, pop music lovers and reader of TGJ. If Nikki was doing what she was doing with regular outfits and her original skin tone she wouldn’t be as successful.

I’m sorry but even if you think Nicki’s music is trash you can’t deny she’s slaying all of these girls.
How many artists (rappers or non rappers) are debuting with over 200k nowadays, or can say they’re being picked up by international brands, or have as many as chart entries as she does.
Eve and the rest are Rap legends but they’ve had their time and one day Nicki will too, but I’d advise any of their stans to be careful of thinking they’re going to have successful come backs when the truth of the matter is that their labels won’t make them a priority and so radio won’t back them.
Nicki is a gimmick and hella fake but she is very smart and has all her business cards in order, she knows how to brand herself and knows how to position herself as a brand worth investing in. Eve and the others girls just aren’t that appealing to the general public in the way Nicki is and because Hip Hop fans will only support artists who get a heavy push (Drake, Asap, 2Chainz, Weeknd, Wayne , Jay and Kanye) Missy and Eve are going to flop.
Im sorry to say it but its true. Can you really see them getting love on the radio, or people rushing to download their music when it’s out.

Can we all stop trying to pit every female artist against each other! I mean Fans/Stans it is ridiculous! Missy said it best there is room enough for everyone! Missy, Eve, Kim etc are LEGENDS. They are veterans! EVE crossed over years ago and was able to leverage herself from a hood rich rapper to a bonafide brand with music, clothing, and a successful television show which she co created and executive produced. Missy is a successful rap artist, writer, singer and producer. Missy’s checks have never and will never stop. In a already male dominated industry, I am tired of all these blogs and fans pitting women against each other. There is room for everyone’s tastes and why do Eve and Nicki have to be competing. Kim, Foxy, Eve, Missy, Da Brat, paved the way for the female rappers of this generation and the women before them paved their way. Lauryn was the only one who could give the Pop stars a run for their money, the rest were too busy trying to be gangsters to prolong their careers past 2004.

Please. Nicki’s 15 minutes is down to the last 5. That episode she just had with Mariah the other day made her lose a bunch of respect in the general music community. These female rapper icons are actually coming back out at a PERFECT time, because you can already sense the backlash brewing against Nicki. As people begin to tire of Nicki’s antics and gimmicks, they will look elsewhere. And lets not forget that the only reason Nicki even has a career at all is because she came out at a time when all of these REAL female rappers were on hiatus and thus had no competition. For all intents and purposes, Nicki is the the quintessential “seat filler”.
Real talk: perhaps 1 Missy or 1 Eve or even 1 Kim couldn’t shift attention away from Nicki…but if they **all** return at around the same time, I promise you that the strength in numbers WILL be enough to derail her.
