It’s been a hot minute since we’ve heard anything fro R&B trier Omarion.

The 27 year old’s B2K exit saw him on a seeming fast-track to solo superstardom, however poor album sales led to waning interest, led to dodgy record deals, led to his current predicament. Not to mention the drama which has plagued the entire B2K clan over the last few years.

Hoping to reverse his fortunes, the singer has teamed up with the Nervo Twins (the Australian sisters most notable for co-writing Kelly Rowland‘s ‘When Love Takes Over’). Together they’ve conjured up ‘Army’.

Can it be the comeback his career is so thirsty for? You be the judge after the jump…

Though boasting a nearly 30 year career that marched many-a-milestone and influenced multiple generations of fans and wannabes, it’s no secret that the heavily reported highs and lows of a certain Whitney Houston would be eyed as the perfect ingredients for a ‘trials, tragedy, and triumph’ type of film.  And while actress Meagan Good made headlines this time last year for her desire to portray the multioctave songbird in a biographical piece, she may have to wait in line as another ‘The Game’ star is possibly moving into play – Brandy.

As many fans of both divas already know, Miss Norwood has long touted Houston as an idol and influence – obviously helping shape her younger sound.  Now, if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, B-Rocka is looking to render her appreciation in a new way it seems:

‘Don’t Wanna Go Home’ hitmaker Jason Derulo has been considerably low key since suffering a critical neck injury a few weeks ago, reportedly leaving him confined to a neck brace for the next few months.  However, in seemingly high spirits, the high octane performer was snapped on the set of a commercial shot by formerly rumored girlfriend Jordin Sparks recently.

The outing marks the first time Derulo has been seen in public since the fracture incident that almost left him paralyzed, forcing him to cancel his ‘Future History’ world tour.  No word on if the ‘Whatcha Say’ singer is looking to reschedule the dates.

In related news, Sparks and Derulo’s ‘It Girl’ co-star Tika Sumter join pop icon Whitney Houston for the highly anticipated 70s musical remake ‘Sparkle’.  Boasting soundtrack production by hitmaker R. Kelly and also starring Cee Lo Green and Derek Luke, the cinematic showing is set to shine in theaters on August 10th.  Get a peek on set here.

‘Me & U’ whisperer Cassie is ready to blast her 2012 off with a bang!  In such stride, recent weeks have seen the model-with-a-mic drop by many outlets teasing her soon to surface offerings including a lengthy trailer of ‘King Of Hearts’ – the first single from her forthcoming LP.  Now titled ‘The Seductress’, the serially delayed set has been over 5 years in the making.

But, much to fan delight, 2012 is set to see Puffy’s puppet Ms. Ventura showcase her non-bedroom related talents once again.  While some followers of the songstress have grown weary in anticipation of the full view for the album’s lead visual (as its trailer debuted over a month ago), this weekend saw Cassie take to Twitter to tease its arrival:

We will hold our judgment until the clip is revealed in its entirety.  But chances are, as the trailer has already revealed, this Laurie Ann Gibson choreographed clip may be best viewed on mute.

Appears the extensive promotional push of Jennifer Hudson‘s latest venture ‘I Got This’ has paid off as reports have surfaced the Grammy/Academy Award winner is now a best selling author.  Landing at number 8 on the New York Times best sellers listing, ‘Got’ marks her first trek on the tally.

Still lining up dates for more appearances for the book, Hudson’s promo grind will soon switch gears as her movies ‘Winnie’ and ‘The Three Stooges’ are both slated for 2012 releases.

Kudos are certainly in order for the songbird. See snapshots of the diva in Dallas earlier in the week where she was presented with a congratulatory cake for her achievement:

R&B eccentric Solange has seemingly found as much favor in her fashions as she has in her music over recent years.  A nod to such would be the youngest Knowles’ feature in February’s ‘InStyle’ magazine.

Maybe mute on the musical tip (until her new album drops later this year), Solo has certainly been making much noise through her colorful ensembles as evidenced by her stunning threads at Milan’s fashion week recently.

In an article that also sees the songstress/DJ dishing about new niece Baby Blue, get into these snaps of Solange below:

‘Save Room’ singer John Legend is undoubtedly hoping fans will be saving room (in their collections and wallets) for the highly anticipated follow-up to his acclaimed 2008 album ‘Evolver’.  While whetting appetites with his collaborative set ‘Wake Up!’ co-starring The Roots, fans of the ‘Get Lifted’ crooner got an eyeful when he recently took to Twitter to announce:

Reportedly set to be included on his fourth solo LP as well as the soundtrack of the romantic comedy ‘Think Like A Man’ soundtrack ,  keep it locked to That Grape Juice for your first listen of the ‘Legend-ary’ tune.

This week, From The Vault journey’s back to the 90’s with a Pop-Culture classic, the divas showdown which saw Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue ask ‘Whatta Man’.

One of the biggest hits of  1994, as well as a highlight in both the groups’ respective careers, ‘Man’ was a Top 10 smash both in the US and the UK.

Directed by Matthew Rolston, the song’s accompanying video is gutsy and bodacious. To put it bluntly, the ladies shut it down.

Rightfully so, such brilliance was rewarded with a MTV Video Music Award for Best Choreography courtesy of the Frank Gaston. (Sidenote: En Vogue still stand as the female group with the most VMA wins to this day).

With femcees popping up left and right as of late (see: Nicki Minaj, Kreyshawn, Azealia Banks), we can’t help but think now would be the aptest of times for another Hip-Hop female collective to build on what Salt-N-Pepa achieved.

As for En Vogue, we hear the Funky Divas are cooking up a new album. Yet, once again, Dawn Robinson has struck herself out of the equation (citing a wack contract). Sad, as having seen the ladies live recently, they still have “it” in abundance. Such a shame.

There are some dreams we don’t want to wake up from, and given the success of Katy Perry‘s ‘Teenage Dream’ we can certainly see why.

Since its 2010 release, the multi-Platinum set has birthed hit after hit, a trajectory the singer is hoping continues with a revised version of the album.

With the return of the original Sugababes confirmed, the group’s current stand-ins are left in quite the precarious position.

Indeed, a slew of commercial disasters (the latest of which saw their last single axed and given away for free) has left the once revered Pop outfit in tatters. A situation rendered worse by their adamance on not throwing in the towel.

And yet, ironically, that’s what they appear to be doing – covertly. First, there were the unaddressed rumours of a label drop, then member Heidi‘s revelation that no new music is on the horizon, and now it has been confirmed that Amelle is going solo.

In what has become somewhat of a live action episode of  Jem & The Holograms, the rivalry between Sugababes 1.0 and Sugababes 4 reached all new heights today.

Because, shortly after the group’s original members reunited to work on new music, it has emerged that Emeli Sande‘ has teamed up with the ladies to help their upcoming assault on their replacements and the UK charts.
