Lil' Kim Rehearses For Dancing With The StarsPeep Lil’ Kim rehearsing for the season debut of Dancing With The Stars, which she is set to star on with dance partner Derek Hough.
I’m a lil disappointed with Kim in that her behind needs to be in the studio working the follow-up the her outstanding ‘Naked Truth’ LP. Who knows, though, this could be just what she needs to bring her name back to the masses. I guess time will tell…

With Ciara’s ‘Fantasy Ride’ LP now affirmatively set for a April 7th release, more new material from the record continues to surface; the latest being ‘I’m A G’. Produced by Danja (Britney Spears, Missy Elliott, Danity Kane), the club banger of cut definitely sounds like a winner.
Listening to this, though, has me wondering why it wasn’t lined up as the album’s lead single, after the epic fails of ‘Go Girl’ and ‘Never Ever’, the latter of which is struggling to make an impact on the Billboard chart as I type.  ‘Promise’ aside, CiCi is renown for her uptempo cuts, so straying away from that, seemingly on purpose, with material that just isn’t up to par, is really baffling to me. Here’s hoping things kinda work themselves out with this project.
Hit or Miss?

March’s Playboy cover girl Aubrey O’Day stopped by the Chelsea Lately Show this week to promote her spread in the famed magazine. O’Day also spoke about her sexuality, Diddy and Danity Kane, as well as her family’s take on her posing nude.

I’m all for doing as you choose, but Ms. O’Day’s reasoning for appearing in the magazine got me thinking…(insecurity is a b*tch).

Exactly a week after assaulting Rihanna and rocking the industry in the process, Chris Brown released a statement today to the press, expressing regret at the situation at hand:
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Chris Brown, who was arrested a week ago in connection with a domestic violence investigation, said Sunday he is “sorry and saddened” by what happened and is seeking counseling from his pastor and loved ones.
The 19-year-old R&B singer also said much of what has been reported of the incident is untrue, although he did not elaborate.
“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person,” Brown said in a statement issued through publicist Michael Sitrick.
“Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and-or reported in the media is wrong,” he added. But he said he couldn’t discuss that in detail until his case is resolved.
He also said he has not posted any comments about the incident on Facebook or any other Web site. “Those posts or writings under my name are frauds,” he said.
Brown surrendered to Los Angeles police on Feb. 8 and was released on $50,000 bail after being booked for investigation of making a criminal threat, a felony. He has not been charged by the district attorney’s office, which is still investigating the case. {Source}

I guess this was to be expected. I’m still on the fence as to my take on this all. Roll on the ‘concrete’ court info…

Ashanti Sports New 'Do Ashanti Sports New 'Do
Peep Ashanti rocking a new short hair do this week in New York. Ms. Douglas is looking mighty fine, yet I can’t help but think this new look would have been more apt for when she dropped her last LP ‘The Declaration’. Just a thought…

Alexandra Signs $3Million US Deal
Following in the footsteps Leona Lewis, X Factor winner Alexandra Burke has reportedly signed a record deal in the US worth £3Million. Check out the report below:

Alexandra Burke has reportedly signed a US record deal with Epic worth £3 million.

The X Factor winner was picked up by the label for a five-album contract as a result of the success of her ‘Hallelujah’ single, The Sun reports.

An industry insider said: “Epic think Alexandra can follow in Leona’s footsteps.

“The US market loves women with big voices – and Alex certainly has that. If she comes close to Leona’s success it will be a job well done.”

It is claimed that Epic is planning a similar launch strategy to the one used by parent company Sony to promote Leona Lewis.

Earlier this week, Burke said that watching Coldplay’s success at the Grammys has made her more determined to crack America. {Source}

I must say, I’m particularly happy for Alexandra. With all the talk of her being ‘the’ next big worldwide star, a US deal really was a necessity. With Leona signing with J Records (also under the Sony Music umbrella with Epic), it really seems that they are following a similar template with Alex – a fact also made evident with the label’s choice to take time with the recording of the album (which is due in November). Working with the top US producers, stylists etc also seems an inevitability as the £3Million is what will be used to both make and market the album, as well as carving out an image for Alex. Exciting stuff.

Beyonce gave the first live rendition of current single ‘Halo’ at the NAACP Image Awards last night, where she also picked up the award for Outstanding Female Of The Year. Interestingly, Ms. Carter thanked her mother Tina, Father Mathew and sister Solange, yet there was no mention of Jay-Z. Just saying…
About her performance, she absolutely nailed it – as usual. It goes to show why she’s head and shoulders above her industry contemporaries at the moment.

LeToya Takes It To Next Level With 'Not Anymore' Video
Having initially been a little underwhelmed by LeToya’s ‘Not Anymore’, the Ne-Yo penned lead single from her sophomore album ‘Lady Love’ (due April 7th), the song has certainly grown on me. It looks set to further remain a mainstay on my play-list, when looking at what its video will be serving up. Check out the report via Rap-up.com:

LeToya Luckett will shoot a video for “Not Anymore” on Friday in Los Angeles. The mini-movie will be directed by Bryan Barber (OutKast, The Game) and is the first single off the 27-year-old’s sophomore album Lady Love.

The treatment calls for nothing you’ve seen from the R&B songstress before, conceptually and visually. The video will be set in the early 1960s, but will have a modern feel similar to Barber’s video for Christina Aguilera’s “Ain’t No Other Man.”

Taking place on an old revival tour bus and “American Bandstand”-like stage, LeToya is the newest addition to a Motown record label and is burning up the charts, eventually moving on from the man who broke her heart and reveling in the ultimate revenge—success.

With the song being a grower – and not as instantly likable as, perhaps, required – a killer video is just what is needed. I’m particularly anticipating this one, as some Barber’s previous work have really been awesome.
