In somewhat of a surprising move, Kelly Rowland looks set to release BOTH ‘Commander’ and new cut ‘Shake Them Haters Off’ as the lead singles from her forthcoming album in the US. Produced by Stargate and penned by Ne-Yo, the song is quite the departure from the divafied scorcher that is ‘Commander’. Instead, it boasts an uplifting and empowering sentiment over a breezy mid-tempo beat.

Though admittedly far from my favourite cut from her new material, from a US radio standpoint, selecting this as a complimentary single to ‘Commander’ makes a lot of sense. For, in this era of music, it’s about shooting as many bullets and seeing what sticks (just ask Usher / ‘OMG’, ‘Lil’ Freak’, ‘Papers’ = hit album).

A fully-clothed Christina Aguilera hit the ‘American Idol’ finale stage this evening. The powerhouse vocalist performed a stunning medley of ‘Fighter’ and ‘You Lost Me’ – a new song from her upcoming ‘Bionic’ LP – for the audience. In move that has stunned many, Mariah Carey has canceled her role in the upcoming Tyler Perry film ‘For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf’ which also features Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg and Macy Gray among others. The diva gave no reason for her sudden departure from the project but her spokesperson, Cindi Berger, said to the press that she is “not at liberty to discuss [Carey’s] personal life at this time.” This news has fueled speculation that Carey has finally managed to get pregnant; something she has been reportedly struggling to do since later 2009. {Source}

50 Cent has lost an astounding 54lbs to play the role of a cancer patient in the upcoming film ‘Things Fall Apart’. The rapper turned actor fell from 214lbs to 160lbs over a 9 week period for the movie. However, now that he is back on tour, he is working to regain the weight and retrieve his former size. {Source}

Wow! This is the kind of dedication that 50 Cent should be giving to his almost nonexistent music career. Having not had a hit in quite some time, many may wonder why he hasn’t taken similar extreme measures toward developing the quality material that he so desperately needs. However, if there is one thing that 50 Cent knows how to do is survive so maybe he has something major planned to help him return to the top of the charts. Again: wow!
