This week’s From The Vault pays homage to one of the greatest albums of the contemporary era – Mariah Carey‘s ‘Butterfly’ ahead of its 25th anniversary.
Today’s pick is one of its anchoring singles, ‘My All.’
Rolled out as the fifth single from Mimi’s sixth studio LP, the soaring ballad was both written and produced by the songbird alongside her longtime collaborator Walter Afanasieff.
Lyrically, the track tackles the topic of deep infatuation and the feeling of wanting to risk it all for a night of passion with “the one.”
Vocally, as is trademark, Carey took flight and launched into melismatic magnificence.
The masses were magnetized and lifted the song to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the top 10 of tallies across the globe – including #4 on the Official UK Singles Chart.
Shot in Puerto Rico, the song’s monochrome video was lensed by Herb Ritts and showcased the diva enchanted by her love interest. A literal take, of sorts, on the cut’s lyrical narrative.

Beyond her powerful pipes, one of Carey’s main attraction talents is her ability to lasso listeners with compelling storytelling and vivid visuals.
As the 25th anniversary of ‘Butterfly’ approaches, we can’t but be filled with all sorts of appreciation for this legendary chanteuse.
While Beyonce fans wait with bated breath for live performances from her ‘Renaissance’ album, other artists are placating with their own interpretations.
And Camila Cabello is the latest.
The Pop starlet took to the stage at Rock in Rio 2022 and delivered a rousing set.
During her showing, the 25-year-old served up a performance of Queen Bey’s ‘Energy.’

It’s a good week to be John Legend.
The EGOT winner is not only celebrating the release of his seventh traditional studio album, ‘Legend’ (click here to stream), but he’s also learned the highly anticipated set’s arrival to digital shelves was preceded by his arrival into the topmost quadrant of the updated Hot 100.
Details inside.
With one of the most illustrious careers in Pop music history, Britney Spears is no stranger to seeing her name attached to some jaw-dropping Billboard records over the years.
But, thanks to her latest hit – the Elton John-led ‘Hold Me Closer’ – the ‘Baby One More Time’ beauty has been penciled in the publication’s record logs one more time.
See what we mean inside:
Latto has long expressed her love for Nicki Minaj. However, it appears some of the rapper’s fans aren’t too enamored with the ‘Big Energy’ performer.
And it all centers on comments made during a resurfaced interview. Indeed, for a sect of the Barbz, ‘It’s Givin” …shade.

Lil Kim has had the masses talking in the wake of her collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion on the ‘Plan B’ remix.

Beyonce continues to make the world move with her chart-topping seventh studio album, ‘Renaissance.’
Since being unleashed in July, the Dance-driven project has enjoyed unprecedented omnipresence. Indeed, from radio, to streaming, to social media, to the clubs – the LP is dominating.
Boasting an eclectic list of collaborators, one of the most notable is none other than Grace Jones.
The legend appears alongside Bey and Tems on the aptly titled ‘Move.’
Now, she’s speaking up and out about working on the track.

Rising rapstress GloRilla may be ‘f*ck n**** free’ as her breakout hit proclaims, but she’s definitely not drama free thanks to murmurs of a feud with fellow femcee Saweetie.
Months after it was first announced the ‘Tap In’ hitmaker was tapped to co-headline the remix to ‘FNF’ (as we reported here), Glo lifted the lid on the tune’s official revamped version Friday (September 9) featuring Latto and City Girls‘ star JT.
With Saweetie’s glaring absence, critics, outlets, and even some of her fans – affectionately called the #ICYGang – wondered if the Rap diva had been given the cold shoulder due to some previously unreported tension.
But if a social media post lifted to Glo’s Instagram Friday afternoon is anything to judge by, that suggestion couldn’t be further from the truth.
Super Freaky Girls unite!
Just a few weeks after Nicki Minaj soared to the top of the Hot 100 (and inside history books) on the strength of her latest single, ‘Super Freaky Girl,’ the GRAMMY nominee is looking to push the Rick James-sampling cut back to its former chart glory by enlisting help from a few friends.
Sustaining its top 10 presence thanks to the streaming and purchased power attached to multiple iterations of the tune including explicit and clean versions of its standard mix, explicit and clean versions of its ‘Roman Remix,’ explicit and clean a cappella versions of both its standard version and ‘Roman Remix,’ and the song’s official music video, now Minaj has lifted the lid on the ‘Queen Mix’ featuring rising rapstresses JT, BIA, Katie Got Bandz, Akbar V, and Maliibu Miitch.
First unveiled on the Rap royal’s ‘Queen Radio’ this week (after being teased on social media), the rockin’ remix is now available in full for your streaming pleasure. Hear it inside.
Summer may be nearing its end, but – if the music video for her latest single ’23’ is indication – Sevyn Streeter is not done bringing the heat!
A reference to basketball legend Michael Jordan‘s iconic Bulls jersey, ’23’ will surely be a critical slam dunk for Sevyn who brings all flavors of braggadocious to the Needlz and Domgotbeats-produced track.
“I been working out all summer for these pics / Milkshake, getting thick / He gon’ shoot his shot, but he gon’ hit a brick / If I shoot my shot, just know I never miss,” Streeter sings.
Accompanying its arrival with a music video directed by MdotforMayor, look inside to see the sizzling ’23.’
