Chris Brown, The Weeknd, and Usher are easily the three most successful Black male singer singles artists of the century.

While Chris sits in the record books of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for being the first male vocalist overall to have 20 multi-Platinum singles, The Weeknd (born Abel Tesfaye) was the first Black male singer to sell over 100 million singles in the U.S. and have 5 Diamond-certified hits.

Recently, Usher became the first Black male to own a Diamond-certified single and album that was released this century.

As if that wasn’t enough to celebrate, he’s joined Brown and Tesfaye in an exclusive RIAA club.

Diddy promised to mount a legal clapback at the various sexual assault claims he is facing and he is now proceeding as such.

As reported, a rapidly settled lawsuit filed by Cassie accused the Bad Boy businessman of sexual assault, trafficking, and brutal violence.

That jaw-dropping suit was followed by three more from other women – including one from a Jane Doe who claims Diddy was one of the participants in her “gang rape.”

Now, the high-powered legal team for the star – born Sean Combs – has submitted a formal response in the Southern District of New York.

In the 71-year history of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), only 100 acts can boast having earned 5 or more multi-Platinum-certified albums.

For context, projects that reach 2x Platinum or more (meaning they’ve sold the equivalence of at least 2 million in the United States) are deemed “multi-Platinum.”

Before February, only 4 of those 100 performers were solo Black male vocalists – Michael Jackson, R. Kelly, Chris Brown, and Luther Vandross.

That count changed recently, however, thanks to a slew of certification upgrades afforded to Usher‘s most popular titles.
