Readers of That Grape Juice know how passionate we are about music – whether that be past or present.
However, unlike our other segments – Retro Rewind, TGJ Replay, and From The Vault – The Pop Stop is the most in-depth look at Pop songs that may have flown under the radar over the last week that you should know, rather they be from music’s biggest stars or those on the rise.
This week, we want to highlight cuts from Mitski, Bon Iver, Max, and Wrabel.

BTS is lighting up the dance floor.
The K-pop supergroup recently appeared on ‘The Late Late Show With James Corden,’ to celebrate the shows 1,000th episode. To honor the occasion the boys of BTS returned to perform a rendition of their song, ‘Butter.’
Two weeks ago, BTS stopped by ‘Corden,’ where they performed their #1 smash ‘Permission To Dance.’
However, their most recent performance on the show comes after the news that the boys will be taking an “extended period of rest” (as we reported here).
Moreover, their latest ‘Butter’ performances comes shortly after they released the latest remix of the song, dubbed ‘Butter (Holiday Remix).’

Fresh from garnering critical acclaim this season for leading an all-star cast aboard VH1’s latest holiday film, ‘Hip Hop Family Christmas,’ as well as a CW holiday special, ‘The Black Pack,’ singer-songwriter Ne-Yo is returning focus to his music with the newly-released single, ‘Stay Down.’
Tapping rising rapper Yung Bleu to assist, the mid-tempo jam – NE-YO’s first traditional musical offering since September’s ‘What If’ – sees the GRAMMY winner lay out limitless loyalty to his lady love.
“Ooh, my last, I’ll split it / Partner in crime, I’m wit it / I’ll tell the judge I did it / Just put something on my books, come visit,” he croons in the first verse of the Mally Mail-produced tune.
Rumored to be one of many gems set to line the tracklist of his long-awaited new studio album (due in 2022), hop inside to hear ‘Down.’
‘Ray of Light’ hitmaker Madonna is looking to enlighten 50 Cent on the proper way to apologize after the rapper lent sarcastic sympathy to the Pop Queen for dissing her last week.
As we reported here, 50 (born Curtis Jackson) took to social media to ridicule the aging diva for posting provocative photos – a measure she responded to by saying he was ‘jealous’ he won’t look as good as her when he’s in his 60’s.
Once Jackson got wind of her response, he posted an apology on Twitter that many – including the Pop icon – perceived as half-hearted.
Late Friday night (December 10), Madge weighed in on his comment with a lengthy clap back. Hear it inside:
The same day Leonardo DiCaprio‘s star-studded dark comedy, ‘Don’t Look Up,’ hits theaters (as we reported here), the lead single from its soundtrack – performed by two of the movie’s stars Ariana Grande and Kid Cudi – gets the official video treatment.
Titled ‘Just Look Up,’ the song’s clip arrives on screens just a week after the Nicholas Britell-produced soaring ballad made its official premiere to drum up buzz for its parent film.
“Just look up/There is no place to hide,” Grande sings on the song’s chorus. “True love doesn’t die/It holds on tight and never lets you go.”
A glittery affair performed in front of a screaming audience of fans, the screen behind the performers shows galactic imagery, which references the film’s plot of two astronomers (Leonardio DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence) who discover a comet is on a direct collision course with Earth.
Look inside to hear ‘Look’ and see how good Grande and Cudi make impending doom sound.

Now, as the year draws to a close, we are reflecting on our favorite moments that rocked – and to some degree maybe even reshaped – the Urban and Pop cultural landscape as we know it.
Next, we’ll look back at the historic Rock & Roll Hall of Fame achievement of Hip Hop icons LL Cool J and Jay-Z.
