From print to Web, radio, television, and beyond, ‘The Color Purple’ stars Taraji P. Henson, Fantasia, and Danielle Brooks have seemingly hit every high-profile outlet in America to trumpet the December 25 theater arrival of the highly anticipated film.

Arguably, none of their promotional appearances to date could have more meaning than their visit to ‘The View’ on Wednesday (December 13) where they sat down with Whoopi Goldberg and co. to dish about the movie’s enduring legacy and impact.

Nearly 40 years after Goldberg earned her first Academy Award nomination for her portrayal of “Celie” in the original motion picture adaptation of ‘Purple’ (1985), the 2023 cast – joined by director Blitz Bazawule – led the studio audience of the morning talk show in an emotional standing ovation for her performance.

With ‘The Color Purple’ rapidly drawing near to its Christmas Day (December 25) release, the cast of the hotly anticipated musical movie is leaving no stone unturned in their promotional push.

Their latest stop is the cover of The Hollywood Reporter. 

Fantasia Barrino, Taraji P. Henson, and Danielle Brooks are joined by the film’s producer Oprah Winfrey in the feature and collectively the quad style and profile.

The spread arrives just one day after Barrino and Brooks nabbed Golden Globe nominations for their performances in the Blitz Bazawule-directed flick – which also stars Halle Bailey, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, Ciara, H.E.R. and Aunjanue Ellis.

In tandem with the THR spotlight is a titillating new trailer for ‘The Color Purple.’

The nominations for the 2024 Golden Globe Awards have been announced – and it’s good news for the likes of Fantasia Barrino, Danielle Brookes, Colman Domingo, and more.

As some of Hollywood’s most notable names, they have racked up noms for their efforts in titles including ‘The Color Purple,’ ‘Rustin,’ ‘Barbie,’ ‘Oppenheimer,’ and ‘American Fiction.’

Blazing a trail across a multitude of mediums – from music to TV to film – the star’s latest venture sees her star in the movie revival of ‘The Color Purple’ as Nettie.

Ahead of its December 25 release, Bailey stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to dish on the Fantasia Barrino-led flick and more.

Chopping it up with the anchor, the 23-year-old – who also earned rave reviews for her leading role in ‘The Little Mermaid’ this year – opened up about working on ‘The Color Purple’ with Oprah Winfrey on-set.

Elsewhere, she spilled on sister life with Chloe Bailey and what it’s like being signed to Beyonce‘s imprint – who she revealed is forthcoming with tips..

With ‘The Color Purple’ drawing nearer its release on Christmas Day (December 25), more material from the film’s star-studded soundtrack has been unlocked.

The latest is the Usher and H.E.R.-led anthem ‘Risk It All.’

A stirring piano-driven hymn, the soulful track sees the potent pair trade verses about risking it all for love, which, by design, mirrors the themes explored in the Blitz Bazawule-directed movie: risk, love, and liberation.

As reported, ‘The Color Purple’ soundtrack (due December 15) will feature the film’s stars Fantasia Barrino, Taraji P. Henson, Halle Bailey, and Ciara. Additional names in the mix (beyond Usher and H.E.R.) also include Ciara, Megan Thee Stallion, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, and more.

‘The Color Purple’ musical is definitely shaping up to be one of the year’s most highly anticipated entertainment events, but so is its star-studded companion album.

Lined with contributions from the film’s stars Fantasia, H.E.R., Ciara, Taraji P. Henson, Colman Domingo, Danielle Brooks, and Halle Bailey as well as original tunes from big names like Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, Megan Thee Stallion, Usher, Keyshia Cole, Coco Jones, Mary Mary, and Missy Elliott, the soundtrack is set to sail to streaming services on December 15.

Ahead of the arrival of the Quincy Jones-executive produced project, its first single – ‘Lifeline‘ by Alicia Keys – has hit digital outlets.

“‘Cause your heart’s an army (Yes, it is) / Don’t gotta do this all by yourself / If you need someone you call me (All you gotta do) / You got me (All you gotta do), you got me/Oh, I can be your lifeline,” she sings on the Tricky Stewart and Marshmell0-produced tune.

Sunday (November 25), the 2023 Soul Train Awards saw some of Urban music’s finest go head-to-head for the show’s coveted trophies.

Hosted by KeKe Palamer, this year’s iteration of the annual ceremony saw SZA, Usher, and Summer Walker lead the nominees’ list with 9 apiece, 21 Savage followed with 8, and relative newcomers Coco Jones and Victoria Monet had 6 each.

By the night’s end, SZA captured 4, Usher won 3, and Monet left with 2 prizes.

‘The Color Purple’ cast styled and profiled against the London skyline as promotion for the hotly anticipated musical goes global.

Directed by Blitz Bazawule and produced by Scott Sanders, the revival of the beloved tale promises to put a fresh twist on a story that has resonated with many for decades.

Set for a Christmas Day release in the US and followed by a January 26 arrival in the UK, the film’s cast – led by lead Fantasia Barrino – posed it up on The IET Building Rooftop as part of a multitude of media activations to signal the imminent landing.

Joining Barrino were Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, director Bazawule, and Scott Sanders.

The GRAMMY winner graces the publication as promotion for ‘The Color Purple’ amplifies ahead of the musical’s US theatrical debut on December 25.

In tandem with a Victoria Stevens lensed shoot, the American Idol winner opened up about the process of transforming into the lead character Celie again after initially playing the role on Broadway in 2008.

Beyond the film, the 39-year-old waxed candid about her traumas and how she’s managed to overcome them.

Hours after the unveiling of the 2024 GRAMMY nominations on Friday (November 10), the entertainment industry and its enthusiasts are still buzzing over music’s biggest night (and biggest honor).

Ahead of toasting the year’s best and brightest on February 4, 2024, the coveted tally of nods expectedly listed the likes of chart-toppers Taylor Swift, SZA, and Olivia Rodrigo as competitors for the ceremony’s top honors.
