Box office titans Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson have joined forces for the new Lionsgate thriller ‘Spiral.’

Arriving as the latest chapter from the book of SAW, the film tells the tale of a sadistic mastermind who unleashes a twisted brand of justice.

Rock, who is also on-board executive producer, takes on the role of Detective Zeke Banks. He is tasked with leading a murder investigation (alongside Jackson’s character). One that mirrors some of the city’s worst criminal atrocities.

In the process, he finds himself caught in quite the predicament himself.

After being subject to the shuffle many films were last year because of the global health crisis, the film now has a new May 14 theater date.

Thanks to aggressive and enduring promotion of her January 2021-released comeback EP, ‘Heaux Tales’ (click here to stream), Jazmine Sullivan is enjoying the long overdue success of the project’s latest single, ‘Pick Up Your Feelings.’

Her first R&B chart #1 single since her 2008’s ‘Need U Bad,’ the DZL-produced tune also comes as her highest Hot 100 peak since 2010’s ‘Holding You Down.’

In an effort to send ‘Pick Up’ further up charts, Sullivan recently performed the number at the 52nd annual NAACP Image Awards (which aired live March 27).  Dazzling in a PHLEMUNS baby-blue feathered minidress, patent-leather Vex Latex leggings, and Giuseppe Zanotti platform boots, the diva took the award show’s viewers into a timewarp straight into the 1960’s for the dramatic performance.

Fans curious about how the production all came to be have been invited to a behind the scenes look at the action. See it inside:

On the “demonic” wings of his latest music video for the song ‘Montero (Call Me By My Name),’ rapper-singer Lil Nas X has been the talk of the music industry – for reasons good and bad.

The polarizing performer has some lauding him for his creativity while others are condemning the clip for its overtly sexual and sacrilegious imagery – a denouncement LNX has been busy retaliating against since the visual’s March 26 premiere.

Among those who have made headlines for criticism of the 21-year-old are fellow musicians Brian Casey (of Jagged Edge) and Joyner Lucas (click here to read), social and political commentator/author/TV personality Candace Owens, and basketballer Nick Young.  And while a number of them received a clap back from him for their commentary, Young is among the first who is apologizing for his statement.

Since, the winning crooner has gone on to collect multiple platinum plaques from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), GRAMMYs, and hearts with hits like ‘Pretty Wings,’ ‘Fortunate,’ and ‘This Woman’s Work.’

Despite the success, the now 47-year-old (born Gerald Rivera) never strayed too far from the formula that made his 1996 debut album, ‘Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite,’ the critical and commercial knockout it was.

As the milestone anniversary of the project that helped to lay the foundation for the NeoSoul movement approaches, look inside to read how its creator plans to commemorate the occasion.

Nike is none too impressed with MSCHF‘s sneaker collaboration with Lil Nas X.

Dubbed the ‘Satan Shoe,’ the limited-edition sneakers touted as a collector’s item – with exactly “666” pairs produced.

Critiqued for being blasphemous, the shoe is a reworked take on Nike Air Max ’97’s and bears the bible scripture Luke 10:18 – which refers to the story of “Satan fall(ing) like lightning from heaven.” The $1,018 price-point reflects the verse too.

What’s more, each pair is touted as featuring real human blood.

Its retail arrival was clearly timed to coincide with Nas’ video for ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ -which saw the star twerk on Satan.

Nike, however, wants nothing to do with it and is heading to court to make its point clear.
