Cicely Tyson, the pioneering Academy, EMMY, and TONY-award winning actress who helped break Hollywood’s color barriers on film and television over her nearly 70-year career, passed away Thursday (January 28) at 96-years-old – just two days after the release of her memoir, ‘Just As I Am.’

The report of her passing from her manager, Larry Thompson, did not include information about the cause of death.

Easily one of Hollywood’s most celebrated actresses during her lifetime, news of the screen Queen’s life transition only saw that celebration amplified as fans, admirers, industry insiders, and fellow entertainers took to social media in droves to remember the icon.

Relating to the latter, look below to see what the likes of Mary J. Blige, Kerry Washington, Tyler Perry, Beyoncé, Angela Bassett, Mariah Carey, Barack & Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, & more had to say:

Not even two months after movie lovers were first sent into a frenzy about a TV-adapted reboot of classic 90’s film, ‘Waiting to Exhale’ (which celebrated its 25th anniversary in December), speculation began mounting about who among today’s crop of actresses would float the revamp and who among its surviving cast (Lela Rochon, Loretta Devine, Angela Bassett) would reprise their original roles.

When Devine first broke the news of the venture, she expressed interest in reassuming her role as the feisty hairdresser “Gloria ‘Glo’ Matthews” (click here to see that).

More recently, the Academy and EMMY award nominated Bassett visited CBS morning talk show, ‘The Talk,’ to dish about her interest in reuniting with the film’s writer – Terry McMillan – to reprise her portrayal of the fiery “Bernadine Harris.”

While ‘Lonely’ and ‘Holy,’ the first two singles from Justin Bieber‘s yet-titled sixth studio album, have been consistent top performers on the Hot 100 (with the latter racking up over 3 months of buoyancy in the tally’s top 10), their follow-up – the January 1-released ‘Anyone’ – hasn’t exactly enjoyed the same fanfare.

By no means a commercial failure as it debuted at #6 on the hitlist, however the The Monsters & Strangerz-produced song quickly lost its grip to the top 10 – slipping to #26 just three weeks after its chart premiere.

In an effort to turn the tide on the fate of ‘Anyone,’ Bieber has unveiled yet another music video in its support.  The antithesis of the tune’s original, Colin Tilley-directed visual, the black-and-white alternate swaps out the cinematic gloss of its predecessor to serve stripped down and intimate instead.
