As ‘Black Panther’ fever continues to work its way around the globe, some of that excitement has seen itself rub off on the film’s official accompanying soundtrack.  With reports already surfacing the album is set to top next week’s Billboard 200, its preceding singles have already started leaving their prints on the Billboard Hot 100’s upper rankings.

The set’s lead single, ‘Pray For Me’ by The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar, pounced to the top of streaming and digital sales just a day after its release.  Now, with a full tallying week in its rearview, the critically acclaimed collabo has not only made an impressive top 10 debut on the Hot 100 but also is a top contender for next week’s top 5.

As reported here, Grammy-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar was picked to helm the official motion picture soundtrack to Marvel’s highly anticipated new film, ‘Black Panther’ (in theaters February 16).

Preceded by the iTunes chart-topping cut, ‘Pray for Me’ featuring The Weeknd (click here to listen to that), the K.Dot soundtrack sees him call on a list of other well known names in the Urban arena including his fellow TDE comrades such as SZA, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and more.  As if they aren’t enough to send fans into a frenzy, listeners can also expect guest appearances from the likes of Travis Scott, Khalid, 2 Chainz, Anderson.Paak, and many more.

H&M felt the fire and fury from folk all over the world yesterday when an ad of theirs surfaced featuring a black model wearing a hoody with the words “coolest monkey in the jungle.”

Shocked and dismayed, millions took to social media to express their disgust at the racially insensitivity.

Said critics included The Weeknd, who announced that he’s severing ties with the company as a direct result.

Clearly feeling the sting, H&M have released a formal – longer – statement of apology. Their words below…

The industry’s brightest stars will align to shine at the event, which will boast performances from the creme de la creme.

Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.

So, just as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’ allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature “Chart Rewind” – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.

Next, it’s all about ‘What About Us’ – the lead single from R&B veteran Brandy‘s 3rd album ‘Full Moon.’  Written by Lashawn Daniels, Rodney Jerkins, and Brandy, the 2002-released bop – produced by Jerkins – was a surprising foray into alternative R&B by Bran (who up to that point was better known for her more standard R&B leaning numbers).  Released at the top of the year, ‘What’ – with the assistance of a kickass futuristic Dave Meyers music video – eventually moseyed its way up to the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 where it peaked at #7 this week 15 years ago.

#Katycats in need of a Katy Perry fix needn’t look any further than this Sunday’s Grammy Awards the Recording Academy confirmed today.

Taking to Twitter to lend the confirmation, the announcement follows weeks of speculation the singer’s new album – the follow-up to 2013’s chart-topping ‘Prism’ – was near completion and ready for launch.
