In honor of his 40th birthday this year (September 25), T.I. announced the release date of his long-awaited 11th studio album, ‘The L.I.B.R.A.’ (an acronym for ‘The Legend is Back Running Atlanta’).

Officially unveiled just three weeks later (October 16), the star-studded set – his first LP since 2018’s ‘Dime Trap‘ – was kicked off by the Young Thug-assisted ‘Ring’ and houses collaborations from the likes of Young Thug, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, 21 Savage, Jadakiss, John Legend, Killer Mike, and many more.

Though he managed to squeeze out multiple singles from the 20-track independent project across the last month, the only among them to boast entry on the Hot 100 is the Lil Baby-enlisted ‘Pardon’ (which has peaked at #97 to date).  That troubling predicament was later underscored by industry analyst predictions that suggested ‘LIBRA’ would be his first album since 2001 to miss the Billboard 200’s top 20.

With its inaugural sales tracking week behind it, look inside to see just how the effort fared commercially:

The new song, ‘Change,’ assembles some of Hip Hop and R&B’s most prized male hitmakers of the last 25 years to bring attention to racial and social injustice.

Toplined by serial hitmakers Jermaine Dupri, Ne-Yo, Johntá Austin and Bryan-Michael Cox, the quartet of singer-songwriters and producers called on a lineup of their industry friends including Anthony Hamilton, Kirk Franklin, Common, Smokie Norful, Rotimi, Eric Bellinger, PJ Morton, and more for the charity single set to benefit the Social Change Fund.

Speaking on the collaborative effort, Dupri stated:

“We created the song to call attention to these long-standing issues,” he said. “Members of the global community are now awakened to issues affecting BIPOC [Black & Indigenous People of Color]. The global pandemic forced us all to reevaluate everything from our health to police brutality and systemic racism. We are now witnessing a paradigm shift that creates an opportunity for real impactful change.”
