Those who thought Doja Cat‘s climb to the top of the Hot 100 was quick and easy are clearly unfamiliar with her story.

Born Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, the young rapstress first pounced onto the scene with a 2014 EP before dropping her self-tilted debut studio album in 2018.  However, it was her 2019 LP, ‘Hot Pink,’ that saw her heat up the charts thanks to its breakthrough hit, ‘Say So.’

To chronicle her bumpy journey to fame, Cat recently teamed with VEVO LIFT to spotlight her story.

If the braggadocious lyrics found aboard ‘Red Sangria’ are any indication, Jordin Sparks is (rightfully) feeling herself.

Stunning fans last week with news about the new song (as we reported here), the tune is reportedly the first lifted from her long-awaited fourth studio album (the first since 2015’s ‘Right Here Right Now’).

Having seen her most memorable chart moments based on the backs of ballads and slower tempo numbers, ‘Sangria’ serves as a welcomed departure to the more club-ready side of the tracks.

Recently unveiling its animated, Morgan Freed-directed music video, the cinematic affair mirrors the emotional tug of the song’s lyrics (which tells of the end of a relationship).

“Don’t waste your breath / Saying sorry / Already made up my mind / If you really / Wanted me then / You know you’d still be mine,” they sing.
