Despite taking time to enjoy motherhood and flex their skills as a music video director for other artists since 2020’s ‘It Was Good Until It Wasn’t,’ singer-songwriter Kehlani finally returned focus to their own music by unveiling their first album in two years – ‘Blue Water Road.’

Released April 29, the 13-track project – named after the street in California where it was recorded – was executive produced by Pop Wansel and features appearances from the likes of Justin Bieber, Syd, Thundercat, Blxst, Jessie Reyez, and Ambré.

Met with generally favorable reviews from industry critics and fans alike, ‘Blue Water’ has so far made a modest splash on digital download and streaming outlets – a fate some attribute to the soft rollout that accompanied its release.

Latto‘s breakthrough hit ‘Big Energy‘ may still be making big moves in the Billboard Hot 100’s top 5 courtesy of continued handsome radio airplay, digital downloads, and streams, but – thanks to the latter two components of chart placement – it’s also finding love over at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Just two months after nabbing a Gold certification for sales of 500,000 in the United States (as we reported here), the RIAA took to press on May 3 to reveal the Dr. Luke-produced song has been elevated to Platinum status for doubling that sum.

Instead of resting on her laurels with the success of ‘Energy,’ Latto is focusing her energy on other tunes found aboard ‘777’ – namely ‘Trust No B*tch’ and ‘Wheelie.’

Dave Chappelle was thrust into headlines today after being attacked live on stage during the Netflix Is A Joke event at the Hollywood Bowl.

The shocking scenes have dominated the mediascape today and reignited the conversation about safety in the live sphere following the drama-drenched scenes at the Oscars.

With the attacker, 23-year-old Isaiah Lee, in police custody, a rep for Chappelle has issued a statement.
