Following stunning showings from the likes of and Tems, Tierra Whack, Queen of Funk Chaka Khan, Gospel princess Kierra Sheard is the latest to reign over NPR’s Tiny Desk in honor of their 2024 Black Music Month live series.

Unveiled on Friday (June 14), Sheard’s set saw her armed with a band of talented instrumentalists that included her brother and longtime producer J. Drew Sheard on drums supporting some jaw-dropping background vocalists.

Reaching deep into her vault of hits, the multi-Stellar Award winner cranked out live renditions of fan favorites like ‘It Keeps Happening,’ ‘Indescribable,’ ‘You Don’t Know,’ ‘Hang On,’ and album deep cuts.

Nearly 10 years and 7 million copies sold later, Sam Smith‘s 2014 smash hit ‘I’m Not the Only One’ got a surprise revamp on Thursday (June 13) courtesy of an unexpected performance with fellow GRAMMY winner Alicia Keys.

Smith, who had taken over the West Village of Manhattan’s famous Julius gay bar for a private party to celebrate Pride Month and commemorate the 10th anniversary of their debut album ‘In the Lonely Hour,’ welcomed accompaniment from the ‘Fallin‘ diva for a stirring take on the modern classic found aboard the award-winning project.

Before you can get your hands on the August 2-due commemorative edition of ‘Hour’ which will be expanded to 25 tracks and include remixes, live recordings, and the new track ‘Little Sailor,’ hop inside to see Smith and Keys wow with ‘One.’

12 hours after unveiling the studio version of ‘2 Million Secrets,’ his first single as an independent artist, Ne-Yo lifted the lid on the tune’s cinematic accompanying music video.

“This song took a little bit of growth on my part to even write, and even more to sing. This song is basically about owning your s—Nobody is above mistakes, nobody is above redemption. You do better and you keep pushing,” he said previously about ‘Secrets.’ “This song is not a song, this song is a confession.”

Among those confessions is the seeming address of his failed marriage to ex-wife Crystal Smith amid her claims he had “unprotected sex with numerous other women” and fathered a child with one of his extramarital exploits.

11 years may separate fans of LL Cool J from his last studio album, 2013’s ‘Authentic,’ but the wait for new music from the GRAMMY-winning Hip-Hop icon came to a close Friday (June 14) with the delivery of ‘Saturday Night Special.’

Produced by fellow legendary emcee Q-Tip, the new tune gets by with help from chart-topping friends Rick Ross and Fat Joe.

“So many different hustlers you meet in the game / Sh-t is cold, don’t put your trust in ’em, let me explain,” he raps. “The greedy killer, he wanna f-ck hoes and get the money / But he quick to feel disrespected / One slip of the tongue, wrong words selected.”

With famed director Jack Tvrdes at the helm, Capella Grey recently dropped the accompanying music video for his latest single ‘Strings.’

Featuring fellow Rap hitmakers Fivio Foreign and French Montana, the clip sees the trio make their neighborhood rounds from the nighttime turn up spot to outdoor parties, barbershops, and beyond.

“Baby when you ready, you can meet me outside we can make it happen,” Grey croons on The Stereotypes-produced cut.

The Braxtons are returning to WE tv for an all-new reality show, aptly christened ‘The Braxtons.’

Serving as the follow-up to the collective’s beloved hit series ‘Braxton Family Values,’ the next chapter of the story will once again follow the lives of legend Toni Braxton and her iconic sisters Tamar Braxton, Trina Braxton, and Towanda Braxton. Matriarch Evelyn Braxton will also be in the mix.

Continuing where the preceding series left off, the show reunites the family in the wake of the passing of sister Traci Braxton and spotlights their bond and individual lives in the here and now.

As relates to the latter, folk will see Toni readying her Las Vegas residency, Tamar navigating her various ventures, Trina exploring her culinary passion, and Towanda juggling motherhood and film producing.

Tinashe has been flying the flag for the independent route and is reaping the rewards of that route with her latest single ‘Nasty.’

Indeed, as reported, the track serves as the performer’s first-ever solo song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 after going all sorts of viral.

Before this chapter of her career, the singer was signed to RCA Records – releasing fan favorites such as ‘2 On’ and ‘All Hands on Deck.’ However, there’s a collective sense that the star didn’t reach her fullest potential during that phase.

Now, in light of her current win, she’s speaking up and out about the imprint’s reaction to her touchdown.
