Corrine Bailey Rae's Husband Found Dead In what comes as unfortunate news, the husband of UK singer Corrine Bailey has been found dead in Leeds, England. See the report, via The Telegraph below:

The body of Jason Rae was discovered in a Leeds flat on Saturday.

The 32-year-old musician was a saxophonist with the Haggis Horns.

The band describe themselves on their Myspace page as “an eight-piece live funk extravaganza” who combine funk, soul, hip-hop and afrobeat with jazz virtuosity.

The group had performed with Corinne Bailey Rae, as well as other artists including Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and Nightmares On Wax.

They released their debut album, Hot Damn!, last September.

A post mortem examination carried out last night proved inconclusive.

Police said they were currently awaiting the results of toxicology reports.

Officers investigating his death have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs.

He has been released on bail pending further inquiries, West Yorkshire Police have said.

Condolences to Corrine and her husband’s family.

Former Fugees member Pras has confirmed that the group’s long-awaited reunion album is officially ‘dead’. Speaking to Billboard.com, he cited Lauryn Hill as the cause of the situation:

“We went in the studio and recorded a couple records that were incredible. But, to put it nicely, it’s dead”. “Me and Clef, we on the same page, but Lauryn [Hill] is in her zone, and I’m fed up with that sh*t. Here she is, blessed with a gift, with the opportunity to rock and give and she’s running on some b*llshit? I’m a fan of Lauryn’s but I can’t respect that.”

I kinda gathered that the project was a non-starter, but Lauryn needs to get herself sorted – more so for herself than anybody else. She performed, here in London, a few weeks back and by most accounts she was terrible – a real fall from grace. Be it drugs or whatever, I hope she’s able to address her problems soon; it would be a shame for such a talent to be wasted.

This week’s From The Vault sees That Grape Juice toast one of music’s most legendary voices, Mariah Carey, and pay homage to Fatman Scoop, who sadly died this weekend.

Their showing of ‘It’s Like That’ at VH1‘s Save The Music 2005 (together with Jermaine Dupri) serves as today’s pick.

While the modern music climate sees many artists shun the promotional trail in favor of scarcity marketing, the 00s saw in-person “promotion” function as an essential component of any and every album rollout. Forget the current embrace of “less is more,” back then more was more.

With that, Team Mariah embarked on a stellar campaign in support of the diva’s blockbuster comeback album ‘The Emancipation of Mimi.’

A day before the LP hit stores (and went on to become one of Carey’s most iconic offerings), the songbird rocked the April 11, 2005 taping of Save The Music with ‘It’s Like That.’

The showing was notable in that it’s one of few to feature Mimi, Fatman Scoop, and Dupri (who produced the song) together on stage.

Electrifying, the energy from the performers and the adoring crowd was pulsatingly palpable and etched this showing in history as the most resonating rendition of ‘It’s Like That’ to date.

An eternal salute to Carey, JD, and the late Fatman Scoop.
