As young power players go, few boast the heat streak of Marsai Martin.

Indeed, beyond her roles on shows such as ‘Black-ish,’ the multi-talented star also became the youngest exec in showbiz when she – at 14 – executive produced ‘Little.’ A movie she also appeared in alongside Issa Rae and Regina Hall. It went on to gross $50 million at the box office (more than double its budget).

Hence, it was more than fitting when she was saluted at the Lexus Uptown Hollywood Honors recently.

That Grape Juice was on-hand at the star-studded event and caught up with Martin, who opened up about ‘Black-ish,’ her upcoming projects, and more.

Check out her chat with TGJ’s Shar Jossell above.

Following their violent Nicki Minaj-centred altercation at New York Fashion Week, Rah Ali and Cardi B remain at odds after one of Cardi’s closest friends allegedly threatened to attack Ali’s parents.

Disgusted, Ms. Ali used her platform on the internet to condemn the violent threat and call the girl who made it a “bum.”

Now, after Cardi took to Instagram to blast Rah’s suggestion that her friends are of the impoverished persuasion, the Reality TV royal struck back by accusing the ‘Press’ powerhouse of being too stupid to understand what she meant by the insult….and working with unethical media outlets to generate fake news stories designed to bamboozle the masses.

Despite offering many-a-jaw dropping moment from tongue-in-cheek tackling of social and political issues to shocking wins and upsets, the 92nd Academy Awards itself was far from a winner (on the ratings front).

Drawing a considerable drop in viewership from last year’s numbers, the nearly four-hour hostless affair pulled in even lower figures than its 2018 edition (which previously held the record for lowest views as we reported here).

‘Over It’ not only serves as the title of breakout R&B star Summer Walker‘s debut album, but apparently represents the 23-year-old’s outlook on the music industry overall.

A mainstay in the Billboard 200’s top 20 even months after its premiere, the project’s ongoing success has endured despite a wave of negative press afforded Walker as a result of lashing out at fans, canceling shows at the last minute, and multiple revelations of struggling with the pressures of fame due to her social anxiety.

Now, with the remainder of her inaugural headlining tour canceled, the singer-songwriter’s announced her retreat from the stage will soon be accompanied by an absence from airwaves as well.

Not even the combined girl power of hitmakers Megan Thee Stallion, Summer Walker, Normani, Halsey, Doja Cat, Saweetie, and more were enough to help DC’s ‘Birds of Prey’ soundtrack soar to the top of the Billboard 200, a feat evidenced by its predicted first week sales.

The project, released on February 7 to coincide with the premiere of the film of the same name, was preceded by singles Stallion & Normani’s ‘Diamonds,’ Saweetie’s ‘Sway with Me,’ and Doja Cat‘s ‘Boss B*tch’ – all of which failed to impact the Hot 100 (as of time reported).  A demonstration of the lack of buzz accompanying the soundtrack, said absent anticipation was realized once industry analysts unveiled their sales forecast for the week’s top-selling efforts.

Unfortunately, ‘Prey’s companion album is not among them.  Details inside:

Lil Wayne‘s putting the competition to rest in more ways than one thanks to his recently released chart-topper, ‘Funeral.’

In addition to claiming the top spot on this week’s Billboard 200, ‘Funeral’s content is pushing Wayne’s already historic chart stats to even higher heights.  Of its 24-song tracklist, 4 of the tunes impacted the Billboard Hot 100 this week – “I Do It,” featuring Big Sean and Lil Baby (No.33), “Mahogany” (No. 61), “Mama Mia” (No. 87), and the LP’s title track (No. 88).

The entries give the New Orleans rapper a career total of 167, trailing only behind his protege Drake and the ‘Glee’ cast.  Additionally,  ‘I Do It’s top 40 debut on the Hot 100 gives the 37-year-old his 82nd placement in that ranking, a feat that sees him surpass King of Rock N’ Roll Elvis Presley to (again) trail only behind Drizzy among all artists.
