While fans, critics, and celebrities alike are singing the praises of the Super Bowl’s national anthem singer, Demi Lovato, and halftime show headliners, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira (as we reported here), ‘Victory’ singer Yolanda Adams won the game before it even began.

Backed by the Children’s Chorus of Miami, the Gospel diva’s voice rang out across the Hard Rock stadium as she delivered a stunning rendition of ‘America the Beautiful.’

Joaquin Phoenix has been racking up awards this season for his stunning portrayal of the ‘Joker’ in the blockbuster movie of the same name.

And while his winning streak proved no different tonight at the UK’s BAFTA Awards (the country’s equivalent of the Oscars), his speech hit quite a unique note.

For, in picking up the honor for Best Actor, he seized the moment to address the pressing issue in the room. That issue being a lack of diversity.

Leading up to the ceremony, even BAFTA organisers lamented the glaring omission of people of colour put forth by nominations committee, the domination of Caucasian males in key categories, and the total absence of females in the Best Director shortlist.

So problematic were the noms that an internal inquiry is being launched with a view to implement change ahead of next year.

Lighting a match under that cause, Phoenix did not hold back with the demand for change. He specifically stressed the need to dismantle “systematic racism” and even identified himself and his privilege as part of the problem. Intimating that it thus rendered him and others in the room key to establishing a solution.

With just a few hours to before the Super Bowl 2020, That Grape Juice’s From The Vault journeys back to the year 2002. A year which gifted the world’s Mariah Carey‘s soaring rendition of the US National Anthem at the Big Game.

Taking place only a few months after 9/11, Carey’s performance of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ served as a tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack and very much functioned as a beacon of a patriotism during trying times.

For this reason, as well as its technical astuteness, it was met with universal acclaim from the public and critics alike. The legend scored a supersonic touchdown.

It also kickstarted the reintroduction of Mimi to the masses, after her much publicized breakdown months prior.

As Demi Lovato gets set to step up as the latest songbird to take vocal flight with the US National Anthem, we sincerely wish her the best. Because with the likes of Mariah and Whitney setting the standard, she’s tasked with etching her name and voice alongside some of the best to ever rock a mic.

Let the games begin!

Dedicated Lady Gaga fans – affectionately called #LittleMonsters – were undoubtedly a little worried after inclement weather caused the cancellation of a Harry Styles concert Friday night (January 31) at the same venue the Grammy-winning diva was set to perform her brigade of hits at just a day later.

Despite on-and-off again showers throughout the day, by showtime the skies had cleared enough for the high octane performer to hit the stage for AT&T’s highly anticipated Super Saturday Night concert at Meridian at Island Gardens on Watson Island in Miami.

Amping music and sports fans for tomorrow’s Super Bowl (February 2), Gaga – a former Halftime Show headliner herself – brought that same energy to Saturday night’s stage when she cranked out a collage of hits including chart-toppers ‘Just Dance,’ ‘Poker Face,’ ‘Born This Way,’ and more.

January 31 brought with it the release of Kesha‘s fourth studio album, ‘High Road.’

Her first full length project since topping the Billboard 200 with 2017’s ‘Rainbow,’ ‘Road’ – released courtesy of Kemosabe/RCA Records – is colored in with 16 tracks including the previously released “Raising Hell” (featuring Big Freedia), “My Own Dance,” “Resentment” (featuring Brian Wilson, Sturgill Simpson, and Wrabel) and “Tonight.”

The good?  Unlike ‘Rainbow,’ ‘Road’ was greeted with critical acclaim for steering its sonic direction toward the sounds of her early ‘Animal’ and ‘Warrior’ days.  The bad?  As of time reported, ‘Road’ – also unlike ‘Rainbow’ – has not seen any of its singles hit the Billboard Hot 100.

Coming as her first album to date to know such fate, look inside to see just how that lack of buzz is set to impact the set’s first week sales:
