Kygo, with the support and permission of and from her relatives, used Whitney Houston’s voice to build a track named ‘Higher Love.’

The track’s vocal was recorded by Houston in 1990 as a cover of the Steve Winwood track of the same name and was supposed to appear on her third album ‘I’m Your Baby Tonight’ but was pulled because Clive Davis felt…

we didn’t want her being a cover artist at that time.

Now, years after her death and 29 years after the cover was recorded, Kygo has worked his magic with it and released it to support his discography and inject some much-needed positivity  into a dark world.

Directed by Andy McLeod, the visual for the Max Martin + Shellback production follows a content couple who are dropped into a world of excess and high society, yet don’t feel obligated to fit in with their new settings.

On working with Khalid, who joins the likes of Bruno Mars, Cardi B, and Eminem on ‘No.6,’ Sheeran said:

“Khalid’s got an undeniable, soulful voice and I knew he would be perfect for this track. I think we both connect to the song in the same way and I’m really happy we got to work together.”
