Khalid has gone all out to ensure his sophomore outing ‘Free Spirit’ is an adventure in more ways than one.

Tomorrow brings with it the release of the RCA set, his first full-length body of work since his Platinum certified debut ‘American Teen.’

Before then, though, the eclectic singer has premiered a like-titled short film.

Co-written by the 21-year-old himself, the flick (which received a one-day theatrical run) was directed by Emil Nava. 

Explaining the rationale for the production – which delves into the themes and ideology explored on the LP – he said:

“It sounds like a movie, why not make it a damn movie?”

We won’t spoil the story, but – by way of a dysfunctional clique called the Free Spirits – a narrative of discovery, purpose, love, and pain is unpacked in an oh so compelling way.

It’s that time of year!

The Billboard Music Awards are back for its 2019 instalment and today the much anticipated nominees were revealed.

This year’s BBMAs host Kelly Clarkson as well as Dan + Shay were on-hand for the partial announcement this morning on the TODAY Show.

In the time since, the full list of finalists for the May 1st ceremony (which airs live on new network NBC from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas) has surfaced.

Congratulations are certainly due to Ariana Grande!

The 25-year-old hitmaker, currently trekking through the United States on the ‘Sweetener’ World Tour in support of her last two albums (‘Sweetener’ and ‘thank u next’ respectively), began the week with reports her latest chart-topping single – ‘7 Rings’ – has phoned in yet another 7 days at #1 on the Hot 100.

Its 8th non-consecutive week at the tally’s summit, the feat comes as Ari’s career best and longest run atop the chart.  Accomplished by ringing in yet another week of a handsome streaming, digital download, and radio airplay mix, Billboard reports:

“Rings,” released on Republic Records, [garnered] 91.8 million audience impressions [at radio], …35.5 million U.S. streams, …[and] 17,000 downloads sold.”

Not even three months after being dragged on Twitter for saying he uses his voice to “empower men” like Beyonce empowers women (click here to read more on that), Future (born Nayvadius Wilburn) is courting controversy for comparing himself to yet another music star renown for community activism:  the late Nipsey Hussle.

The 33-year-old, whose death to gun violence rocked headlines over the weekend, has been the subject of an outpouring of condolences from fans and celebrities alike (including the likes of Beyonce, Rihanna, Drake, and many more as we reported here).  When Wilburn took to social media to offer his sympathies, however, he appears to have taken a wrong turn…
