After ending 2016 with a homophobic sermon that set the net ablaze, gospel hitmaker Kim Burrell was hit with a number of online attacks from former supporters, LGBT activists, and concerned viewers.

While the onslaught of commentary garnered a fiery response from Burrell, her “clean-up” only seemed to worsen the matter and helped ignite a petition to see her booted from appearing on Ellen Degeneres’ daytime talk show to promote the film ‘Hidden Figures’ (January 6th).

Per an announcement this morning from the movie’s star, Janelle Monae, Burrell had indeed been booted from appearing on the show.  Now, for whatever doubt may have lingered after the fact, Degeneres took to Twitter to offer the official news of the chop:

As we reported here, renowned gospel singer/pastor Kim Burrell came under some serious fire after going on a graphic homophobic rant during a recent sermon.

Once the video of her statements started making its rounds the ‘Try Me Again’ singer quickly tried to clean up the mess with a clarification:

I never said LGBT last night. I said S-I-N and whatever falls in the sin was preached.

Apparently it was too little, too late.  As of time reporting members of her faithful following on Twitter and Facebook – many of whom are members of the LGBTQ community – are roasting the revered songstress for her unwelcome remarks.  See highlights below:

Just over a year-and-a-half after embattled songstress Kim Burrell lost several endorsements and was shunned by both gospel and secular communities for comments deemed “homophobic” during a sermon (click here to read), fellow gospel singer Kierra Sheard may be well en route to such fate.

The 31-year-old, famous for rendering nearly 15 years of her own gospel hits and being the daughter of Clark Sisters‘ legend Karen Clark Sheard, recently rubbed fans the wrong way when she suggested homosexuality was the direct result of “victimization” (i.e. molestation, etc.).  Needless to say, the assertion did not go very well.  As fans, followers, and more have been taking her to task on social media all day, the blaze has only grown higher as the story makes its rounds.

‘Queen of Gospel’ Shirley Caesar received a royal backlash on Twitter this week after indirectly throwing her support to fellow gospel hitmaker Kim Burrell after the latter was slammed for a fiery anti-LGBT sermon.

As Burrell continues to lose everything from endorsements to promotional spots, Caesar – probably fearing the same was forthcoming – quickly tried to clarify her stance on the LGBT community by taking to Facebook to issue a statement.
