Ariana Grande has been on quite the roller coaster in 2018 and she didn’t shy away from that fact when accepting Billboard’s Woman Of The Year award tonight in New York.
The legendary Patti Labelle introduced the singer, who was the evening’s top honoree and spoke passionately about her many achievements over the last twelve months.
Filled with gratitude, Grande gave a nod to those wins – which include #1 placements for album ‘Sweetener’ and recent single ‘Thank, U Next.’
However, she tearfully spoke on the duality of 2018, expressing that it’s been “the best year of my life professionally and yet the worst year of my life personally.” The latter, course, referring to broken relationships, the tragic passing of a partner, recovering from the Manchester terrorist attack, and navigating media scrutiny.
She drew on the internal conflict it’s caused her, but pivoted to draw on it to encourage those going through similar chapters.

Michelle Williams is back!
Over four years since the release of her last album, the critically-acclaimed, ‘Journey to Freedom,’ the Grammy winner invites fans on the journey to ‘Fearless’ – her latest single.
A piano driven number with high spirited drums and Williams’ oft-praised vocal stylings to boot, the inspirational cut and its creation were teased on her OWN reality TV show, ‘Chad Loves Michelle,’ ahead of its premiere just moments ago.

It looks like the Billboard Hot 100 told Ariana Grande, “thank you, next,” as refreshed reports shows Travis Scott‘s ‘Sicko Mode’ (featuring Drake) replacing the songstress atop the chart.
After leading the tally for three weeks, Grande’s ode to her exes – though by slim margin – lost grip of the #1 spot on this week’s singles chart. Billboard reports:
“Sicko” narrowly defeats Grande’s “Thank U, Next” atop the hot 100, as the former gains by 5 percent in overall activity and the latter descends by 5 percent. Still, “Next” tops Streaming Songs for a fourth week (42.5 million, down 3 percent). It falls 4-5 on Digital Song Sales (18,000, down 23 percent) and zooms 36-23 on Radio Songs (39.5 million, up 25 percent), claiming the Hot 100’s top Airplay Gainer title.
Like Grande’s ‘Next,’ ‘Sicko Mode’ comes as Scott’s first chart-topper. Yet, industry analysts have already forecasted he shouldn’t get too comfortable as – thanks to the song’s well-received music video (as seen here) – ‘Next’ is set to be #1 again next week.
Until we know for sure, look to see who join the two in the top 25 on this week’s TGJ Chart Check:
‘What Christmas Means to Me’ and ‘Bring Me Love,’ two cuts found aboard John Legend‘s critically acclaimed holiday album, ‘A Legendary Christmas,’ got the live treatment last night (December 5th) when the crooner stopped by ‘The Tonight Show’ with Jimmy Fallon.
Backed by a live band, the Grammy-winner treated the audience to a 50’s-inspired, doo-wop rendition of ‘What Christmas Means to Me’ before launching into a spirited showing of ‘Bring.’

Kevin Hart may have just been announced as host of the 2019 Oscars, but there wasn’t much time to celebrate.
Why?
Well, archived tweets from the comedian were unearthed and were explicitly homophobic, misogynistic, and even colorist. [Note: we won’t share them here, but they’re…about]
Looking to quell the rising flames, Hart has issued a apology – which took on two tones.
The first was remorseful, with the funnyman asserting “I love everybody.” Yet the other seemed annoyed with the fact folk took aim at him.

SZA scorched the scene by blazing her own trail. But it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for the first lady of TDE.
This evening sees her honored with the Rule Breaker award at the Billboard Women Of The Year ceremony in New York City.
Ahead of the event, the 28-year-old sat down for a candid interview with industry publication to discuss her journey.
Waxing all sorts of honest, she shared her learned lessons from “that” Coachella performance and revealed how she was initially being honed to be the next Jennifer Hudson. She also relayed her take on Beyonce.
