With ABC’s revival of ‘American Idol’ proving itself quite the consistent ratings winner thanks to its talented hopefuls, revamped format, and judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie, FOX – the show’s former network home – re-entered the reality-singing competition race to face off against the likes of ‘Idol’ and ‘The Voice’ by birthing ‘The Four.’
The series, with a judges’ panel featuring DJ Khaled, Meghan Trainor, and P. Diddy (alongside hostess Fergie), was a consistent ratings draw for the network despite routinely pulling in less than half the viewers of its contemporaries.
While its season 1 finale did manage to court more eyes than its premiere, just four months later its season 2’s premiere (June 7) reported a serious plunge. See the numbers inside:
