After a lengthy delay from screens (due in great part to the SAF-AFTRA and WGA strikes), football drama ‘All American’ is running back to TV with its highly anticipated season 6 on April 1.

Inspired by the journey of former New York Giants linebacker Spencer Paysinger, the show – one of the CW’s most popular – follows “Spencer” (portrayed by Daniel Ezra) as he navigates his personal and professional life as a high school student set to transition into becoming a major star player for Golden Angeles University, and later, the big league.

Also starring Samantha Logan, Michael Evans Behling, Greta Onieogou, Cody Christian, Chelsea Tavares, Bre-Z, and more, the wait to find out the answers to season 5’s jaw-dropping cliffhanger comes to a close tonight.

Time flies, but the truest gems shine on eternally.

So, with Janet Jackson‘s criminally underrated ‘Damita Jo’ celebrating its milestone 20th anniversary, what better time than the present to salute one of its many high notes – ‘I Want You.’

Co-produced by a then-rising Kanye West alongside Jackson and her longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the doo-wop-inspired cut was serviced as the second single from its housing album.

Renowned for her high-octane anthems and their accompanying videos, Jackson drove in a markedly different direction with the track.

A romantic serenade, the song saw Jackson profess her love for her boo.

Its lush visual was lensed by Dave Meyers and saw the Pop Queen navigating her way to her man – striking that trademark smile throughout. The clip features a cameo from Jackson’s then-partner Jermaine Dupri.

Much like the ‘Damita Jo’ project (which opened with one of the year’s biggest first-week sales), the dark cloud of the Super Bowl 2004 fiasco unfortunately clipped the wings of the release. Indeed, with limited TV and radio play, ‘I Want You’ peaked at #57 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Fast forward to today and with the climate and narrative of the episode firmly in Jackson’s favor, we hope that more of the masses dive into the brilliance of the ‘Damita Jo’ album, era, and visuals.

Hard to believe it’s been five years since shockwaves were sent through the music industry at news of the tragic death of Nipsey Hussle.

The iconic rapper, whose full name is Ermias Asghedom, was killed on March 31, 2019, outside the Marathon Clothing store he owned.

Far from forgotten, the ‘Victory Lap’ star’s peers and fans have kept his memory alive through musical tributes, artwork, and more over the years – a host of homages matched only by the touching toasts risen by actress-girlfriend Lauren London.

Taking to social media on Sunday (March 31), London celebrated Easter by also remembering her fallen boyfriend.
