They don’t call her the Songbird Supreme for nothing.

When it comes to Hot 100 stats, Mariah Carey reigns supreme and you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who can match or surpass her seemingly insurmountable feats.

Beyond being the only solo artist in the 65-year history to have captured 19 #1 hits, she’s also the only artist to have topped the tally in four distinct decades. Elsewhere, she’s known as the first female act to debut at #1 (1995’s ‘Fantasy‘), the first act overall to have their first 5 solo singles reach #1, and she holds the title for most cumulative weeks at #1 (93 and counting).

And while those accomplishments are just the tip of the iceberg, one of the shiniest jewels in her Billboard crown was being one of two artists to lay claim to charting at least one top 10 hit every year for over a decade.

This week, she learned a third act seems poised to join that fold: The Weeknd.

Tyla may only have one album to her credit, but in the last year the 22-year-old has seen the term “history-making” attached to her name more than many acts well beyond her tenure.

As if watching her megahit single ‘Water‘ make her the first South African female to own a top 10 hit on the Hot 100 wasn’t enough to boast, she followed by making GRAMMY history when she became the inaugural winner of the Best African Music Performance trophy.

This week, she penciled in yet another historic feat to her log when her self-titled debut album opened in the Billboard 200’s top 40.

Just in case those 2023 Daytime EMMY and People’s Choice Award nominations (as well as back-to-back NAACP Image Award wins in 2023 & 2024) weren’t enough to indicate the warm reception of Sherri Shepherd‘s eponymous talk show, the official third season renewal should certainly serve notice.

Originally predicted to sell in the range of 350,000 copies its first week, the Country-flavored effort – which boasted features from the likes of Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, and more was already on its way to blockbuster status before news of history-making streams at Spotify and Amazon Music were reported.

With those figures in tow, industry analysts took to press on Wednesday (April 2) to offer a revised prediction for the ‘Cowboy’ opening.

‘Truth Hurts’ hitmaker Lizzo had her dedicated fans (affectionately called #Lizzbians) hurt and confused at the notion she was hanging up her boots and retiring from the music industry.

In a shocking rant lifted to social media late last week, the GRAMMY winner declared she “quit” because was “tired of being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet” and that she felt like “the world doesn’t want me in it.”

While not expressly stating she was quitting music, the language suggested in the post still spurred an outpour of support with many of the singer’s supporters even sharing concern about her mental health.

Hoping to ease worries, Liz took to social media on Tuesday (April 2) with clarification on her original statement. Look inside to see what she said.
