Welcome to Retro Rewind, the TGJ original feature launched to revisit entertainment’s often shocking past.

Today, as their biopic continues to enthral fans home and away, the members of New Edition stand as the subject of today’s class.

Why?

Their unforgettable clash on live television!

Watch below…

Fighting within the force eventually saw them disband and projects as solo acts and duos before finally reuniting to share their story with the world via BET.

Bobby had this to say about it:

I’m amazed. These talented young guys did a great job at being us as young kids and then brought it all the way home. Chris [Robinson, the film’s director] brought everything out of all these actors to make it special. I was sitting in the chair over here and got a little crying on. Watching and being alive to be able to see what my life was and has become and where my life is going from this point on? It’s special, man. These kids put their hearts and souls into this, just like we put our hearts and souls into our lives.

New video alert!

Hoping to bag multiple hits before the unveiling of her next studio album, Nicki Minaj glides into saucy action with help from Lil Wayne and David Guetta with the visual for their jam ‘Light My Body Up‘.

Released as her fans mock her rival Remy Ma over claims of infidelity within her marriage, the video was directed by Benny Boom and impacts the world following the release of her lacklustre visual for her cut ‘No Frauds’.

Is it time for Minaj to welcome new creative energy into her mix?

This Sunday brings with it the dramatic finale of the ‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ season 9 – and it appears Bravo have saved the full-on fireworks ’til last.

Viewers have watched on as private talk about lady ponds and dungeons has descended into public chaos.

The rumor mill has put Phaedra Parks in the middle of the madness, with suggestion that she is the puppet-master. Allegedly.

And while the answer will arrive in a mere matter of days, a newly released preview shows Porsha Williams and Kandi Burruss cry tears (both of the angry and sad variety) in the aftermath of the “reveal.”

See what we mean below…

Looks like must-see TV. We’ll be tuning in this Sunday. Will you?

When it was revealed that Rita Ora had signed with Atlantic Records, many wondered whether it’d see her team with some of the superstars on their roster.

Well, it looks like that didn’t take long to come to fruition. For, she’s working with Ed Sheeran.

In a mysterious clip shared on Instagram, the media maven is seen in what looks like a studio gazing into a camera with the ‘Shape Of You’ crooner by her side. A brief snippet of a song plays before it cuts out.

If indeed a collaboration, it’d be a huge coup for Rita.

The road to her second album has been rocky to say the least following a long legal wrangle with former label Roc Nation.

In possibly pairing up with the most successful act on the charts, her campaign would be off to a flying start.

Frank Ocean has found a fan and potential friend in Brad Pitt.

Rocking this month’s edition of GQ, the actor- who is divorcing his wife Angelina Jolie– set out to share his newfound admiration for Ocean and R&B music.

When asked on his time playing characters in pain, he shared:

Yeah, I’m kind of done playing those. I think it was more pain tourism. It was still an avoidance in some way. I’ve never heard anyone laugh bigger than an African mother who’s lost nine family members. What is that? I just got R&B for the first time. R&B comes from great pain, but it’s a celebration. To me, it’s embracing what’s left. It’s that African woman being able to laugh much more boisterously than I’ve ever been able to.

How he came to this profound conclusion?

I’ve been listening to a lot of Frank Ocean. I find this young man so special. Talk about getting to the raw truth. He’s painfully honest. He’s very, very special. I can’t find a bad one.

Following a longer than planned hiatus (to accommodate Kerry Washington‘s pregnancy), the show picks up right where it left off – with fireworks!

Forming a central part of the revived TGIT (Thank God It’s Thursday) block of programming, the political drama promises (and is already delivering) many an explosive twist and turn for its sixth season. Election, anyone?!

Kendrick Lamar has given the competition yet another reason to say ‘Damn.’

As if already setting the Billboard 200 alight by boasting the year’s best first week sales with his tertiary release wasn’t enough, now – as it reigns atop the tally for yet another week – the set has been certified platinum.

Taking to Twitter earlier today, his label announced:

Congratz are undoubtedly in order for Lamar.  Tuck in to see who joins him in the top 25 on this week’s refreshed TGJ Chart Check:

Whoopi Goldberg is on course to bag a salary of $3.5 million should she hold onto her role as a moderator on the successful TV series ‘The View‘.

$1.5 million higher than the $2 million she received last season, the amount- if coughed up by ABC– would see her retain her position after she announced that she was to part ways with the show at the end of its current season.

Seems straight forward? Well…it isn’t. For, Goldberg’s request also comes with a number of conditions.

Sources close to the show reveal:

She wants this one ABC executive off the show. She blames this person for trying to turn The View into Good Morning America with the rotating hosts and contributors and doesn’t want that exec involved in the show any more.

She is tired of having to answer to people that she doesn’t feel like are worthy of their positions.

So she wants to be an executive producer of the show so that she has a seat at the decision-making table and can have more control over the things going on.

She’s asking for no less than $3.5 million a year to return. She feels that she helped this show turn the corner again in the ratings and knows she plays a huge factor in its success.

She wants them to pay her what she thinks she’s worth, despite the fact the network is crying budget concerns.

Goldberg is credited with retaining the show’s viewership following a confusing casting period which saw her forced to watch nine different co-hosts come and go since Barbara Walters‘ departure in 2014.

The source adds:

Now that the core five have good chemistry and the ratings are going back up, Whoopi has been less grumpy.

‘She keeps telling the producers behind the scene: “See, this could work if they don’t start f***ing with us again!

When Floetry returned in 2015, fans were elated. Especially when the soulful duo embarked on not one but two reunion tours.

However, behind the scenes, turmoil was brewing and old wounds lay bare.

In a new interview with The Breakfast Club today, Marsha Ambrosius lifted the lid on the drama few actually knew about.

And believe us, it runs deep.

Beyond her fall-out with the Floacist (Natalie Stewart), Ambrosius opened up about becoming a mother and a fiance, as well new music, and a whole lot more.

Adele‘s discography continues to see her roll in the cash.

That’s right, much to the delight of her bank account, she pocketed £40 million extending her lead as the highest-earning female British singer of all time.

With this, her earnings rise to the $125 million mark.

Robert Watts, compiler of The Sunday Times Rich List:

What a year for Adele. Such strong record sales and a busy touring schedule propel her into our main list for the first time.

Still in her 20s, if Adele’s career lasts as long as many of the other entries in our list, she has the potential to be the highest-earning British musician of all time.
