The weekend started with Tina Campbell, one half of Grammy-winning gospel duo Mary Mary, celebrating the release of her sophomore album, ‘It’s Still Personal’ (in stores September 29th).
The weekend is ending, however, with the singer/songwriter suffering an all out dragging on Twitter after an interview during her promo run for said LP saw her reiterate her support of sitting president Donald Trump. Asserting she backs the businessman-turned-politician because of his ‘Christian values,’ that very support has landed the reality show star in hot water with fans who are now claiming they no longer support her.
This week’s From The Vault pick comes courtesy of Beyonce and Shakira. It’s 2007’s ‘Beautiful Liar.’
For the re-release of her sophomore album ‘B’Day,’ it was back to the drawing board for Mrs Carter who enlisted Latin sensation Shakira to trade verses with her on the set’s first single.
‘Liar’ was helmed by Stargate and Knowles, who are the same team behind her mega-hit ‘Irreplaceable.’
In the US, the track peaked at #3 and it was also a top charting single in many European countries such as France, Germany and the UK.
It was nominated for Best Pop Collaboration at the 2008 Grammy Awards and Record Of Year at the Latin Grammy Awards 2007.
Jake Nava directed the song’s video, which was dynamite! High fashion, beauty shots, hair-o-graphy and “that” killer belly-dance break. Though minimalistic, it did a brilliant job bridging the gap between these two very different but dynamic artists.
The clip won the VMA for Best Collaboration in 2007.

Anyhow, with Bey and Shak still killing it in their respective lanes a whole decade and 5 kids later, who knows what the future holds for this song.
For now though, we salute them for this epic Pop moment!
