That Grape Juice welcomes rising star Alex Who? to The Splash!
Born in Holland to Dutch and Tanzanian parents, the soulful songstress relocated to New York upon catching the attention of Empire Records exec Ghazi Shami.
Since signing with the renown imprint last year, she’s weaved together her mixed mesh of cultural influences (as well as a love for artists such as Nina Simone and Erykah Badu) to form her unique smokey-smooth sound.
Said sound is sonically abundant on her debut EP ‘This Is Who’ – which arrived at retail and on all streaming services today.
Aptly titled, the project – much like her artist name – celebrates the reality that she is more than one thing, more than sound, and more than one “type” of artist.
Ms. Who showcases this on The Splash, serving up stirring showings of Usher‘s ‘U Remind Me’ and her original song ‘Summer In December.’
Much to the delight of their respective camps Beyonce and Rihanna stand in a very unique position in 2017.
What that is? Unlike their closest contemporaries, the ladies still have the power to move impressive pure sales in today’s market.
Today, their impact has been celebrated by all corners of the music industry after numbers they generated on a streaming front pushed the arena to the 112 million subscriber marker!
Doing away with the singular roll-out, the Black Eyed Peas star is delivering her sophomore effort ‘Double Dutchess’ in the form of an all-at-once visual album.
Due September 22nd, the project the LP is being released via her own Double Dutch imprint (in partnership with BMG). Guest features include Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, and YG.
Word on the curb that she enlisted the likes of dynamite directors such as Jonas Akerlund to bring her vision to fruition.
Prior to now, Fergie-Ferg has been teasing with brief previews. However, she has today unleashed an extended trailer and it’s fire. Literally!
