With the exception of songstresses Alessia Cara, Selena Gomez, and Julia Michaels [in leading positions], the Hot 100’s upper rankings – namely the top 30 – are indeed a man’s world.  Leading that pack of 27-male entries, to no surprise, is King Kendrick Lamar.

In addition to seeing his album, ‘Damn,’ top the Billboard 200 with the year’s highest first week sales (to date) and simultaneously place all fourteen of its tracks in various positions across the Hot 100 this week, the set’s breakout hit – ‘Humble’ – has politely been seated at the latter chart’s summit (consequently ending Ed Sheeran‘s ‘Shape of You‘s 12-week run at the top).

Curious to see where you can see Lamar’s name scattered all over the chart?  You know what to do:

After Lifetime hit a ratings high note with its Angela Bassett-directed biographical film that chronicled the tumultuous relationship of her superstar parents Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown (click here to read more about that), TV One is looking to follow suit by unveiling an in-depth look at the life of Bobbi Kristina.

Simply titled ‘Bobbi Kristina,’ the made-for-TV flick will reportedly lend an “intimate look at the highs and lows of parental, familial and romantic love complicated by fame through the eyes of a sensitive, vulnerable young woman.”

Katy Perry served up sassy new single ‘Bon Appétit’ at the strike of midnight and the expectation was for the masses to eat it up.

It’s early, but it appears folk are proceeding to the table slower than perhaps planned.

As at writing, the Migos assisted cut has yet to enter top 10 of US iTunes. It presently occupies the #15 spot. This despite banners and ample fan-fare.

**********

While it’s far from doom and gloom, especially given Perry’s general strong streaming performance, it does make one wonder.

Because beyond being the tier of act accustomed to instant hits, she’s coming off a lukewarm chart run with preceding single ‘Chained To The Rhythm.’

All of which makes for potentially sweaty palms at Camp Perry.

Still, as the age old adage goes, it’s rarely about how one starts but how they finish. Maybe just maybe it’ll take longer to rise but enjoy sweeter success.

Over 100,000 members of the social media community unfollowed Kim Kardashian in less than 24 hours as she faced claims that her paparazzi images are heavily edited before they are released to the public.

The drama kicked off when Kardashian, who has denied that she owns a surgically enhanced behind, was caught on a beach sporting a body which stood as a far cry from the one she often flaunts on social media.

In response to the supposed “treachery”, over 100,000 people pulled their support of her social media platforms by unfollowing her.

Her follower count on Instagram now sit at the 98.8 million point.

Why do you think the public responded in the way they did?

British vocal outfit MiC Lowry have been building buzz on a global stage thanks to their infallible harmonies and vocal prowess.

That Grape Juice welcomed the Liverpool bred group to The Splash and they showed up and showed out.

Today marks the global release of Mary J. Blige‘s thirteenth studio album ‘Strength Of A Woman’.

The set, which features contributions from the likes of Missy Elliott, Jazmine Sullivan, Kanye West, and DJ Khaled, arrives at a dramatic time for the Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul.

Indeed, as widely reported, Blige is in the midst of a mucky divorce from former manager Kendu Isaacs.

During the promotional rounds for the LP, she’s cited the creation of the project as being therapeutic for her after years of secretly suffering in her marriage.

And one listen of the LP highlights the hurt but also the triumph of realising one’s worth.

Pop songstress Katy Perry‘s politically charged last single, ‘Chained to the Rhythm,’ may not have been linked to the type of ‘out of the box’ success she’s used to enjoying, but its follow-up – ‘Bon Appetit‘ featuring chart-topping rap group Migos – may be on track to sing another tune (commercially).

Being served alongside a healthy helping of controversy (click here to read more about that), listen to it inside and tell us if Ms. Perry will land a hit akin to the other big smashes that line her discography:

Katy Perry‘s beloved fanbase, affectionately called #KatyCats, have been clawing at the singer’s wig since she announced her new single, ‘Bon Appetit’ (due April 28), will feature chart-topping rappers Migos (not Ariana Grande as previous rumors suggested).

The Atlantan trio, best known for their #1 smash, ‘Bad & Boujee,’ found themselves on the bad side of some of their fans after they slammed singer/rapper iLoveMakonnen for coming out of the closet (click here to read more on that).  While the incident is nearly 3 months old, fans of the ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ singer have not forgotten – a feat evidenced by the host of fiery tweets aimed at her before the tune’s unveiling.

John Legend has been blazing the promo trail to ensure his latest single, ‘Surefire,’ is a surefire hit.

Earlier this week the Grammy-winning crooner was spotted at ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ where he rendered a smoking performance of of the tune, dished on its parent album (‘Darkness & Light’), and even gave dibs on landing a spot in TIME magazine’s latest “100 Most Influential People” issue.

Today, while in NY for the TIME 100 gala, Legend made a pit stop by ‘The Breakfast Club’ studio to not only plug his latest album and its supporting tour (which is set to kick off in early May), but also dish on his 1-year-old daughter, Luna, and share his thoughts on the latest political and social issues dominating headlines (i.e. Bill O’Reilly, Trump, etc.).
