Last year’s saw millions locked in to OWN‘s newest drama ‘Queen Sugar.’ And with good reason. It slays.

The Oprah Winfrey and Ava DuVernay production proved a gripping watch with its weekly depiction of tale of three very different siblings trying to honor their father’s legacy and resurrect his rural Louisiana farm.

Upon its debut last September, it became the second best premiere ever for the 6 year old network. It’s little wonder, then, why it’s being brought back a little earlier for its 2017 run.

Today OWN announced a two-night premiere for its sophomore season – June 20th and June 21st. The 16-episode order, which is currently in production in New Orleans, will be air in two halves: the first this Summer and the second in the Fall.

‘Queen Sugar’ is anchored by Kofi Siriboe, Rutina Wesley and Dawn-Lyen Gardner (pictured above). Bianca Lawson also stars.

That debut season was everything. Hopefully, its second is just as sweet.

TLC have officially returned! The surviving members of the iconic group invite listeners to journey ‘Way Back’ with them on the lead single from their final album.

Financed by fans following a successful Kickstarter campaign, the LP (which is exec produced by Ron Fair) is set for a June 30th release.

Snoop Dogg joins TBoz and Chilli on the breezy song, which prescribes the right amount of warm nostalgia as we head into the summer months.

Take a listen to the Cali-coated track below…

We’re pleasantly surprised. This sounds like a bop.

On mainstream formats, it’ll no doubt have an uphill battle against ageism and politics of other sorts. But, there’s no reason this can’t be a hit with the adult contemporary audience – at the very least.

More broadly, it serves as a solid indicator that the LP will deliver decent material.

For those who contributed, it sounding like money well spent. Thus far.

The vocalist Tory Lanez has been arrested for gun and drugs-related charges.

While in Florida yesterday, the Brownstone-sampling singer was arrested in Florida’s Broward County when he was allegedly caught in possession of a concealed weapon and at least twenty grams of marijuana.

There’s more.

For, he was also locked up for failing to register a motor vehicle, driving without a drivers license and the failing to show proof of car insurance.

He was released after he posted a $1000 bond.

Katy Perry has scored a major coup in her comeback campaign.

The Platinum blonde bombshell has landed her first ever Vogue magazine cover.

Sporting an array of edgy looks, the Pop superstar’s shoot arrives on the heels of recent single ‘Chained To The Rhythm.’

The track didn’t bulldoze the competition as perhaps intended, but with huge promotional spots like this, it’s clear there’s a plan in place for future releases – including her upcoming album.

Hard to believe it’s been nearly 18 years since Sammie broke onto the scene with his tune, ‘I Like It.’

Since then, the R&B singer has had a musical reincarnation or two, but the identity and label changes never got in the way of the Floridian crooner’s devotion to the genre.  Such is evidenced again in his latest release, ‘Better.’

The second offering from his November 2016-released ‘I’m Him’ EP, the bop may be one of many tapping into the “trap-soul” movement (reminiscent of and popularized by Bryson Tiller‘s ‘Don’t’), but Sammie’s ‘Better’ – let us tell it – lives up to its title in a number of ways.

Nicki Minaj‘s flood of the airwaves continues.

This time it’s by way of Major Lazer‘s flavorsome new single ‘Run Up’ which also features PARTYNEXTDOOR.

With the song wracking up over 200 million streams since its debut, its Paul, Luc, Martin directed video arrives right on time.

Speaking on the concept of the clip, which was unveiled moments ago, the trio say:

“The idea was to laugh at ourselves and at the unconditional love we bear to our smartphones. Humor and absurdity came naturally in our speech because our will was not to accuse someone or something but just exaggerate it to foster reflection.”

Decent vid for a decent song.

In a developing story, it has been announced that actor and comedian Charlie Murphy has died at the age of 57.

According to his manager, the eldest brother of Eddie Murphy was suffering from Leukaemia and passed this morning in hospital where he was undergoing chemotherapy.

Though renown for his connection to his superstar sibling, Charlie enjoyed much success of his own – as a popular stand-up act and also with roles on ‘The Chapelle Show,’ ‘The Boondocks’ and ‘Are We There Yet.’

He also co-wrote some of his brother’s movies such as ‘Norbit’ and recently toured with Cedric the Entertainer, D.L. Hughley Eddie Griffin, and George Lopez on ‘The Comedy Get Down.’

Murphy is survived by three children, two of which were with his wife Tisha – who died in 2009 after battling cervical cancer.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Murphy family.

The Real Housewives Of Atlanta promises an action-packed, four part reunion for its season 9 climax.

While some of the ladies are clashing over “dungeons” and “lady ponds,” Kenya Moore and Sheree Whitfield have been trading jabs over homes. Or, as they call them, Moore Manor and Chateau Sheree.

And the sparring spilled into the first part of the reunion special, which airs this Sunday.

In a newly released trailer, the ladies don’t hold back when remarking on each other’s abodes.

Petty, no doubt, but hilarious for sure. Check it out…

Both women recently invited the cameras in to see how they’re living. Whose do you prefer? By the looks of each, both Sheree and Kenya are winning.

Check out Rita Ora!

The Pop stunner is gearing up to release her long-awaited new album and graces the pages of Shape Magazine‘s May issue ahead of its arrival.

Striking a number of stellar poses, the former America’s Next Top Model host proves she herself knows how to slay a photoshoot.

Speaking about embracing her own look, the 26-year-old says she loves her body because she has “meat on her bones.”

She goes on to elaborate about changes she’s made to facilitate a healthier lifestyle:

“I’ve been the girl on tour who eats when she can and goes along when the band wants to go out all the time. But you just can’t keep that up. You start thinking, ‘I miss feeling good! This past year, I’ve really been on my game by eating right and going to the gym. As a result, I’m focused now, and I get a lot more done.”

Check out the gorgeous snaps, shot by Arthur Belebeau, below. And look out for Rita’s lead single, which drops imminently.
