Two of Pop’s brightest stars are to thank for this week’s From The Vault pick. Today we take you back to 2008 with Madonna and Justin Timberlake‘s ‘4 Minutes.’

After dabbling in Disco with 2005’s ‘Confessions On A Dancefloor,’ the Pop queen decided – yet again – to steer her sound down Urban avenue.

Rather than re-treading old terrain, she enlisted the super-producer Timbaland alongside Timberlake and Pharrell Williams to craft her eleventh album ‘Hard Candy.’

‘4 Minutes,’ which was Grammy nominated, was served up as its lead single.

The bass-heavy effort peaked at #3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on Canada’s Hot 100. It also claimed the top spot of charts in many European countries such as the UK, France, Germany and Italy.

Christened “conceptualistic” by M herself, the video – directed by Jonas & François – sees the stars trying to escape a dark force that was bent on destroying everything around them. As is expected under such circumstances, the pair dance up a storm along the way and showcase a copious amount of chemistry.

Nominated for “Best Dancing In A Video” at the 2008 VMAs, the clip lost to the Pussycat Dolls’ ‘When I Grow Up.’ Understandable.

************

Reactions to the song and video were mixed back in 08 and remain so now.

It didn’t mature into the classic all parties likely thought it would be, but its production is still intact and truly effective to this day.

Still we’d like to know, almost a decade later, what do YOU make of this collaboration?

Your thoughts?

It was just days ago that news hit the wire that ‘American Idol’ was being readied for a reboot.

Well, as is the case in showbiz, things change – and fast.

Because, according to a new report, politics behind the scenes means the show may very well lay to rest longterm.

For any viewer of ‘Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta,’ it’s more than apparent that Joseline Hernandez says it like she means it.

It’s little wonder, then, why the Puerto Rican Princess is taking both a literal and personal approach with her new music.

Her tumultuous relationship with cast-mate Stevie J produced their daughter Bonnie Bella.

And while things are relatively smooth between the pair now, there was a public back and forth surrounding just who was the ‘Baby Daddy.’

Using the drama for a song, the self-proclaimed “Baddest Puta” is readying a scorching video.

It takes a cutting edge talent to carve out a place and fanbase in today’s crowded marketplace.

But it’s something New Yorker MAAD has achieved with relative ease.
And, upon listening to her hypnotic brand of R&B, it quickly becomes apparent why.
A delicious fusion of the funky, fresh, and familiar, hers is a sound that demands attention. It boasts a wide appeal too, with its undeniable rooting in the nostalgic and tasteful take on the current.
Last year saw the singer, model, and DJ, showcase this with addictive cuts such as ‘Black Ice’ and ‘Touch Me’ featuring Grammy nominee Ro James.
Answering the calls of her growing fanbase, the rising star uncaged electrifying EP ‘LÉ FUNK’ this week.
Comprised of seven infectious tracks, the project was written by MAAD with production courtesy of frequent collaborators The VAMP.
We’ve had it replay here at TGJ and imagine you will too!
