kehlani

As Contemporary R&B’s leading lady the pressure is on Kehlani‘s debut album to move units far greater than the acts vying her spot.

Fortunately, that hasn’t stopped her from enjoying some downtime at Kiehl’s My Vitality Party hours ago.

There, at the Bleecker Event Hall in New York City, the ‘SSS’ siren rubbed shoulders with the likes of Kitty Cash, Amanda Lepore, Billy Porter and Veronica Webb.

Jhene Aiko gets psychotic in the asylum, self-directed visual for single ‘Maniac.’

With the dark sensual single as her backdrop, the ‘Souled Out’ singer is bound, gagged, and restrained before freeing herself and straddling a mannequin. The concept stems from Aiko’s research on the reasons women were admitted into mental institutions in earlier years. The reason: nymphomania, which is a side of the 28-year-old that she wanted to highlight more with this effort.

collage-albums-released-in-2007

Following a year that gifted pop music lovers game and/or career-changing albums like Justin Timberlake‘s ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds,’ Christina Aguilera‘s ‘Back To Basics,’ Beyonce‘s ‘BDay,’ Amy Winehouse‘s ‘Back To  Black,’ Ciara‘s ‘The Evolution,’ and Fergie‘s ‘The Dutchess,’ 2007 had some big shoes to fill.

For many of the artists who stood to the challenge (see:  Britney Spears, Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, Jay Z, etc.) the results may not have matched the commercial response of their previous efforts (or collectively those of the big named releases the year prior), but critically the class of 2007 wielded what many consider some of their (if not their) best work(s) to date.

As we kick off 2017, let’s flashback to 2007 to ode 10 game and/or career-changing albums that turned 10 this year.  Your gateway to feeling “old” awaits below:

Indeed, the actress ‘set off’ a firestorm of Twitter clapbacks after taking to the Breakfast Club this morning to promote her new Lifetime-aired reality show, ‘Black Magic’ – a black male stripper’s competition (a la ‘Magic Mike’).  Never one to mince words, when quizzed on if her “boys” would ever entertain gay men as well as ladies, Fox’s response didn’t sit too well with some viewers.

In fact, so many viewers voiced their displeasure the actress was prompted to take to Twitter to offer a clap back.  Tuck in below if  you missed any of the action:
