Despite the ongoing drama with her group Xscape on the top-rated BRAVO reality series, ‘Queens of R&B,’  founding member Latocha Scott is still keeping her sights on breaking ground in the Gospel arena.

As chronicled on the series, Scott finally broke out by her lonesome via an inspirational album titled ‘The Invitation: A Conversation with God.’

Arrived on digital shelves Friday (April 7) courtesy of Motown Gospel, the 11-song project’s launch was preceded by the release of three songs: ‘I’m Yours,’ ‘Stay with Me,’ and ‘Afraid.’  And while the trio of tunes were all welcomed with critical acclaim, the latter premiered on this week’s Hot Gospel Songs chart at #24 – marking a career first for the R&B veteran.

Undoubtedly hoping to see its parent album follow suit, you’re formally invited to hop inside and stream ‘Invitation’ in its entirety thanks to Apple Music and Spotify.

Following their 2001 remake of the LaBelle classic ‘Lady Marmalade,’ GRAMMY-winning singers P!nk and Christina Aguilera went from topping charts to being #1 on each other’s sh*tlists – a feud most thought was put to rest in 2017 but was seemingly reignited in 2023 as the former promoted her latest album, February’s ‘Trustfall.

Despite “taking responsibility” for her seemingly unintentional role in reheating the beef, Xtina fans (affecionately called #Fighters) weren’t buying that P!nk wasn’t being intentionally shady when she referred to the ‘Fighter‘ singer as ‘not very nice’ and naming ‘Marmalade’ as one of the least favorite music videos shot over her career.

Aguilera remained mum during the height of the reignited drama, but seemingly broke her silence recently when she took to the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast.

‘Eyes Closed,’ an ode to ‘heartbreaking loss,’ arrived on March 24 as the first single lifted from Ed Sheeran‘s May 5-due new album, ‘Subtract.’

“This song is about losing someone, feeling like every time you go out and you expect to just bump into them, and everything just reminds you of them and the things you did together,” Ed explained. “You sorta have to take yourself out of reality sometimes to numb the pain of loss, but certain things just bring you right back into it.”

To bring the song to life, Sheeran sought to encapsulate sadness as ‘an imaginary creature’ (a big blue monster) and turned to the 1950 classic ‘Harvey‘ for inspiration for its music video.  The cinematic venture was undoubtedly part of the fuel that helped propel ‘Eyes’ to a top 40 opening on this week’s Hot 100.

Another stride to keep the tune front-of-mind for his beloved fans, affectionately called #Sheerios, came courtesy of a behind the scenes look at its Mia Barnes-directed music video.

The hit series chronicles the iconic groups as they prepare for an epic joint show comprised of their biggest hits.

On the finale (episode 6), which airs this coming Sunday, viewers will see whether the ensembles are able to make the concert come together – all the while navigating how undone the relationship between sisters Tamika Scott and LaTocha Scott has become.

For many, there’s been no escaping the fiery feud between Xscape members Tamika Scott and sister LaTocha Scott.

The deeply personal fallout between singing sisters has been central to the hit Bravo reality show ‘SWV & Xscape: The Queens of R&B.’

And the drama has drenched social media timelines too – as the ladies, their group members, and the public at large have weighed in the various layers of the beef.

Core to the chaos is Tamika’s televised claim that her sister and her husband (Rocky Bivens) were involved in the stealing of $30,000 worth of her royalties.

In the time since, LaTocha has hit back and labeled her sister a “liar.”

Armed with a stacked collection of “receipts,” Tamika has returned serve in a jaw-dropping video – in which she alleges that she is at the center of a blackmail attempt centered around a sex tape.

She also includes a sit-down with group member Tiny’s mom, who was one to discover the discrepancy with the royalty “missing” payments.
