Some critics are demanding an apology from ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ hitmaker Demi Lovato for recently performing her tune ‘Heart Attack‘ at an American Heart Association (AHA) event designed to raise awareness about the impact of cardiovascular ailments.

Taking the stage Wednesday (January 31) at the AHA’s annual Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection concert, Lovato walked through the crowd while she wailed the 2013 hit with attendees – many of whom were survivors of heart attacks and other cardiac conditions.

As videos of the showing flooded the net, detractors took to social media in droves to weigh in on Demi – some even suggesting the song choice was “insensitive,” “tone deaf,” and in “poor taste” given the audience.

Weary of the ridicule and judgment, a rep for the GRAMMY nominee took to press Friday (February 2) to clap back in her defense.

“Still getting over the flu which makes it silly to sing so excuse the raspy voice but messing around with an acoustic version of SELFISH,” Timberlake captioned the clip lifted to his 72.2 million followers on the platform.

The 2024 Black Music Collective Honors, easily one of the most anticipated pre-GRAMMY Awards events. happened Thursday night (February 1) and honored music trailblazers Lenny Kravitz and Mariah Carey with the Global Impact Award (as we previously reported).

“I was not encouraged to focus on my love for Black music,” Carey said in her touching acceptance speech. “It took countless arguments, endless tantrums and mostly unwavering determination, but eventually I was able to unveil my authentic self and create music from my heart. In doing so, I discovered a new sense of freedom and fulfillment.”

A nod to her indelible contribution to Black music came courtesy of a stunning tribute led by GRAMMY-winning powerhouses Yolanda Adams and Tori Kelly.

While the latter dropped jaws with her rendition of Carey’s 1990 debut single ‘Vision of Love,’ Adams gave a rousing showing of ‘Make It Happen‘ – a repeat of her 2022 ‘Songwriters Hall of Fame‘ homage to the Songbird Supreme.
