It would appear Ray J has a hit on his hands.
Indeed, after releasing the song to mixed reviews last month, the entertainer has seen his new single ‘I Hit It First’ make its way higher and higher up the UK singles chart with every passing week.

Brit-Pop belles The Saturdays made many a headline this week following news that yet another member is expecting a child (see: Frankie Sandford).
The revelation was a bittersweet one for fans, who – fresh off celebrating the group’s first #1 single ‘What About Us‘- were anticipating their new album.
Keen to dispel any doubt about the band’s future, today saw the ladies tease their latest single ‘Gentleman’ on Twitter.
Little is known about the cut beyond the fact that it’ll receive its full premiere next week. Take a listen below…
As anyone who’s been to a Rihanna show (that wasn’t cancelled) will agree, performing isn’t where her “wow” factor lies. Indeed, even her staunchest supporters will be the first to confirm that it’s her catalogue of hits that make her, for better or worse.
Therefore, it’s little surprise that her new ‘777’ tour documentary has been unceremoniously slammed by critics.
Set to air on Fox on May 6th, the fly on the wall special chronicles the 25-year-old’s 7 shows, in 7 cities, over 7 nights promo push for her hit album ‘Unapologetic’. The ‘Diamonds’ led set, which is her 7th LP, became her first chart-topping project in the US upon release last November.
And while the album’s success may relay a triumphant narrative, its accompanying docu-movie reportedly boasts little in replay value. Not a good look when the full 77 minute version of the hour-long special will be released on DVD a day later (May 7th).
Peep its new trailer and critic comments below…
The net was set ablaze last week when reports that American Idol producers were planning a mid-season shake-up caught on like wildfire. Multiple sources claimed that the show’s creators were looking to oust Mariah Carey and replace her with rival and former judge on the show Jennifer Lopez. Carey’s only saving grace was said to be the legal action she threatened upon learning of the “coup”.
Drama, much?
Keen to establish if the story is fact or fiction, Extra put the question to Lopez directly in Los Angeles last night. Find out what she said below…
Much like our ‘Retro Rewind’ and ‘From the Vault’ segments, readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past. So in a quest to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday we introduced a new retrospective segment – ‘TGJ Replay’.
Unlike its ‘Rewind’ and ‘Vault’ predecessors, ‘Replay’ looks to dust off and showcase albums (and eras) from a library of pop music hits. While the masses rock out to R&B soulstress Fantasia‘s fourth album ‘Side Effects Of You’ (in stores now), let’s take a stroll down memory lane to her 2006 sophomore self-titled effort…
Fiery femcee Eve is set to ‘Lip Lock’ next month when her first album in ten years hits stores.
Preceding singles ‘She Bad Bad’ and ‘Make It Out This Town’ are hot, but the self-professed Pitbull In A Skirt is packing an LP full of heat. How do we know? We were privy to hear the album earlier this week!
Fans eager for an early listen can do so below, where snippets awaits…

Meet J. Drew Sheard II (JDS).
The first and youngest producer signed to hip hop hitmaker’s Pharrell Williams’ imprint Star Trak, the 23-year-old (under the pupilage of Williams) has crafted a number of gems for some of gospel’s heaviest hitters – namely sister Kierra Sheard.
Indeed, the Detroit native is a branch sprouted from a long-lasting gospel legacy that extends from grandmother/gospel legend Mattie Moss Clark to, of course, mother Karen Clark Sheard (one-fourth of legendary gospel group The Clark Sisters). But, despite having such musical nest to call home, JDS seems poised to soar in a different direction – a move that has lent him mixed review.
Speaking exclusively to That Grape Juice, the singer/songwriter/producer dishes about his family legacy, critics who have bashed his decision to experiment outside of gospel, and his family’s BET reality show ‘The Sheards’ set for premiere tonight, April 7th at 10/9c.
