Mariah Carey is back!

At least that what it sounded like last night as she kicked off her ‘Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour’ at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.

The diva, who has in recent years been plagued by critique of her voice, silenced the naysayers by wowing with powerful vocals and slick, stylised staging.

Much to the delight of her Lambs, the superstar also held true to her promise of performing songs that fared better in Europe. Hence, dusted off were ‘When You Believe’ and the still-lit ‘Loverboy.’

For us here at TGJ, the show was extra special because it brought with it what sounds like an entirely live version of ‘We Belong Together’ (for the Mimi-inclined: yes, including the climax).

Michelle Obama has embraced music as a powerful medium during the President’s tenure in the White House.

And, as the clock counts down to the end their run, it’s a practice that continues.

Today brought with it the debut of her new song ‘This Is For My Girls.’

Granted we’d love to see the First Lady give the Pop girls a run for their money, this track doesn’t see her sing.

Instead, she leads a multitude of female stars on the track, which aims to raise awareness for the US government’s #62MillionGirls campaign. Said initiative focusses on seeking help for girls around the world who unable to go to school due to the lack of opportunities.

Penned by the iconic Diane Warren and executive produced by AOL MAKERs, the song – which features the likes of Kelly Rowland, Kelly Clarkson, Missy Elliott, Zendya, and Janelle Monae – is available to listen to below…
