After years of diluted diversity, network television is beginning to embrace talent of all hues in a major way.
Following a slew of primetime pick-ups for the 2016/2017 TV season, FOX have unveiled their latest title ‘Shots Fired’ – starring Sanaa Lathan.
The “event series” centres on the aftermath of racially charged shootings in a small Southern town.
Putting a fresh twist on the race/gun violence debate, ‘Fired’ sees an African-American police officer kill an unarmed white college student, causing social chaos. Before the town has a chance to grapple with this tragedy, the neglected murder of an African-American teen is brought to light, re-opening wounds that threaten to tear the town apart.
