Adele, Drake, Justin Bieber, Fetty Wap, and The Weeknd are the year’s undoubted success stories. Alongside Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift‘s 2014 offerings, the quintet have dominated the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 and ultimately kept the music industry afloat with their respective releases.  But, as has been the case for some 20 years now, when the year nears its end, one name makes its way back to the forefront of charts – Mariah Carey.

Carey, a monarch of many musical things, is the uncontested queen of Christmas.  As if tightening her already taut grip on the record for “best selling holiday album by a female artist” isn’t enough (as her 1994 release, ‘Merry Christmas,’ has been certified platinum 5x times over in the U.S. alone), the album’s most memorable release – ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ – holds the record for the most downloaded holiday tune of all time.  Standing as her most successful international single to date, ‘All I Want’ sits pretty as the 12th best-selling single of all time.

Only 10 albums released in 2013 went platinum that year.  In 2014, only 5 acts who released projects in that calendar year crossed the platinum threshold before December 31st (Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, Pentatonix, Ariana Grande, Jason Aldean).  This year is set to see that precious metal elude more acts than ever.

As of this week, only 3 albums released this year have gone platinum in the U.S.  Interestingly, not one is by an American-born act.

That’s right, Canadian emcee Drake laid claim to the first title when his surprise fourth album, ‘If You’re Reading This…,’ crossed the platinum threshold in summer 2015.  It wasn’t until late November when powerhouse diva Adele nabbed the second title after her blockbuster comeback album, ’25,’ sold over 3 million its first week.  The sales give her the distinct honor of being the only multiplatinum release of 2015.

Now, courtesy of a sales bump, the two will be joined by Canadian crooner Justin Bieber as his comeback album, ‘Purpose,’ is now in the 2015 platinum club.  Details below:

Another day, another Adele record right?

Much to the dismay of competition, despite consistently selling over 650,000 copies every week since its release, the songstress’s ’25’ shows no signs of slowing.

Already etched in history books as the only album to sell over 1 million copies in two separate sales weeks, the ‘Hello’ singer has been greeted with refreshed reports the tune’s parent album is set to sell another million by the end of tallying this week.

With the video for ‘Get Ugly,’ the fourth single from Jason Derulo‘s fourth album ‘Everything is 4,’ the Miami-born maestro brought his high octane moves back to the forefront.  A winning move for the young singer, let us tell it, as it will hopefully bring his name back to the forefront of the Billboard Hot 100’s upper rankings.

For, despite being kicked off by the mega-successful ‘Want To Want Me,’ his quaternary release has failed to launch another single that has even touched the top 50 on the tally.  In a bid to turn this not-so-pretty sales situation around, Derulo is inviting fans to a behind the scenes peek at the James Larese-directed affair.

Funnyman Steve Harvey wasn’t exactly smiling after his epic blunder on this Sunday night’s showing saw him announce the wrong winner of the coveted ‘Miss Universe’ crown.

Since then, the comedian/actor/talk show host has been fielding racially charged attacks on social media and endless ridicule courtesy of memes and Vine videos.

Undeterred, it looks like Harvey will have the last laugh as reports indicate viewers will be seeing his name as host once again next year:

As reported here, Adele‘s massive comeback album, ’25,’ was expected to move 750,000 units by end of tallying last week.  If such feat was accomplished, the powerhouse diva would have crossed the 6 million sold threshold.

Now, on this side of tallying, we should’ve known better than to put any “ifs” in the equation.

Moving a whopping 825,000 units in its 4th week of availability (790,000 of which were pure sales), the project not only skipped right over that “6 million sold” mark, but now lays claim to a new sales record: ” first album to sell over 695,000 copies in four different weeks.”  With the added sales boost, ’25’ also claims the title of “second best-selling album” of the decade, an honor that sees her eclipsed only by the sales of the top titleholder – herself with ’21’ (which re-entered the Billboard 200’s top 10 this week).  Even its predecessor, ’19,’ has re-entered the top 40 this week.

Elsewhere on the Billboard 200, thanks to a few holiday-themed albums and reignited sales of some of the year’s favorite cuts, August Alsina and R. Kelly missed out on the top 10 completely (as we reported here).  Get into the top 20 below:

Indeed, it’s been a decade since talented songbird Tweet blessed the industry with a new project.
