Today, we’ll get down with ‘I Wanna Be Down’ – the official inaugural single of R&B siren Brandy. Launched in 1994 from her self-titled debut album, the Urban groove was quickly lauded by critics for housing some seriously seasoned soulful vocals from the then-15 year old. Soaring straight to #1 on the R&B charts, this week in 1995 saw the tune stay put at its Hot 100 peak (achieved two weeks prior) amidst a group of the day’s heaviest hitters.
