Adele may be the name on everyone’s lips now, but if there is to be any other person we can say had ‘the best year ever,’ it would be The Weeknd.
The Canadian crooner not only topped the Hot 100 back-to-back with hits ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ and ‘The Hills,’ but also hoisted their parent album, ‘Beauty Behind the Madness,’ to equal height on the Billboard 200. Making history as the first solo male artist to simultaneously top the Artist 100, Hot 100, and Billboard 200, his continued domination of the charts this week saw him add yet another history-making feat to a wildly growing list of accomplishments.

Grammy winning music superstars Lionel Richie and Adele both took their respective megahits, ‘Hello,’ to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 over 30 years apart. But, if what Richie reports is true, they may be sharing a spot on that very chart soon.
After a host of memes and Vine videos jokingly joined the two hits (like that seen above), the ‘Say You, Say Me’ singer says he was inspired to reach out to the diva’s team to coordinate a meeting. That meeting could soon see the duo saying hello in a studio to cook up a new hit:
Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.
So, just as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’ allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, Chart Rewind – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.
On this #FBF we’ll press play on ‘I’m Your Angel,’ the unlikely pairing of R&B bad boy R. Kelly and powerhouse vocalist Celine Dion. Written and produced by Kelly, the touching tune – lifted from his chart-topping third studio album ‘R.’ – came as quite the unexpected departure from the power-pop ballads that lined Dion’s repertoire (see: ‘My Heart Will Go On’ which dominated charts the year prior). In Kelly’s case, the departure – while not as unexpected – was certainly a welcomed retreat from his standard sexualized fare.
Regardless, fans welcomed ‘Angel’ with open ears, arms, and wallets as the tune soared to #1 on the Hot 100 and enjoyed its second week on the perch this week in 1998 (and wasn’t dethroned until 5 weeks later by Brandy‘s ‘Have You Ever’). Tuck in below for your flight down memory lane and see what other familiar faces you see lining the top 25 this week in 1998.

Now, with the New Year nigh, more details about the show’s arrival have been uncovered.

It looks like Meek Mill is still being penalized for his infractions against Drake as the Canadian emcee’s fans have taken to the legal system to continue their assault.
