After spending the last few years being overlooked by the casual listener, it seems Contemporary R&B is finally reaping the fruits of its Frank Ocean fueled labor.

For, thanks to the public’s renewed interest in the genre and a well executed push by her label ‘EPIC‘, Ciara‘s ‘Body Party‘ has found itself on its way to the chart heavens…selling 20,000 units in the last week.

As earlier reported, Ciara sprung a surprise on fans tonight and revealed new single ‘I’m Out’ featuring Young Money maven Nicki Minaj.

And with excitement still in the air following the gritty cut’s premiere, the 27-year-old has unwrapped its accompanying artwork — which you can peep above.

‘I’m Out’ serves as the second single to be lifted from the stage blazer’s new self-titled album (due July 9th via Epic). Its predecessor ‘Body Party’ is a certified Urban hit and even managed mainstream success after achieving a Billboard Hot 100 peak of #34 (major, in today’s climate, for ANY R&B song).

Great to have Ms. Harris “back”, right?!

Ciara is making quite the statement with new single ‘Body Party’.

The sizzling Mike Will production has been burning up the net and airwaves, and more rapidly so since its accompanying video was unwrapped two weeks ago.

And with streaming now a more prominent component of chart positions (as well as the song holding its own on iTunes), it appears this is benefitting the 27-year-old in earnest. For, ‘Party’ has made quite the splash on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 tally.

For, while some faithful fans still await news on rih-scheduled dates from her ‘Diamonds’ World tour (some cancelled due to illness), others know exactly where Rihanna‘s been (see:  strip clubs, shopping sprees, and social media bullying).

Ciara is in all-out promo mode for new single ‘Body Party’.

With R&B serving as her musical mainstay on her new self-titled album (due July 9th), it was inevitable that a trip to BET’s 106 & Park was in the pipeline.

Naturally, many have been anticipating the stage blazer’s return to the show given ex-boyfriend Bow Wow‘s new gig as a host there. Last night brought with it “the “moment” when Cici stopped by the countdown show to formally introduce the video for ‘Body Party’.

From the looks of things there will be Better days ahead for Chrisette Michele fans.

After months of teasers the ‘Charades’ singer has unveiled the cover to her fourth studio LP ‘Better’.  Due June 11th from Motown Records, the album is set to feature a number of big names including Musiq Soulchild, Wale, 2 Chainz, etc. and follows her well received mixtape ‘Audrey Hepburn:  An Audiovisual Presentation‘.

Joining songstress India Arie, Kelly Rowland, Ashanti, Ciara, and many more with her release, it appears R&B will be alive and well this summer.
